The other thread about the city in the US that feels least American I noticed many people talking out the side of their neck regarding El Paso. The safest city in the United States 300 feet from the worst crime city in the world has more culture and an exponentially better quality of life than New Orleans. Mexicans apparently police themselves and love America which is more than New Orleans can offer.

quote:

The city of El Paso has ranked as the safest city in America for the fourth year in a row.

The ranking is based off of crimes rates for U.S. cities with populations over 500,000.

I don't think it has much to offer in terms of food, entertainment, cultural events, etc. though. I'm not saying those things are or are not important, but I think the average city-dweller would choose New Orleans.

So you think saying El Paso feels like being in another country is talking out the side of your neck? Wow and you start a thread about it...brilliant.

I've spent a great deal of time in El Paso as my wife has family there. I like it there a lot, it's a cool place.

But it is a culinary wasteland. I couldn't live there.

I think he is trying to show how shitty it is. Look at unemployment and poverty rates.

I'll add, I've had great great times in EP.

There's just not much to do and the food, excluding Mexican, is just...non-existant.

Just for a moment I stood there in silence,
Shocked by the FOUL EVIL deed I had done.
Many thoughts raced through my mind as I stood there;
I had but one chance and that was to run.

The New Orleans obsessed crowd is out in full force today. The idea that people enjoy New Orleans just won't let them sleep easy. Also, El Paso is absolutely wretched. We had to go into Mexico to get a nice meal when I went.

I think you were getting the wrong idea from the other thread.

Most of the people calling NOLA the "least American" city were being complimentary.

However, if it makes you feel any better, anybody saying that was wrong so if they also said that about El Paso then they were probably wrong about that, too.
