It's pennies honestly. But I ate at a restaurnt in NOLA tonight and I say the tax was 9.75%. JP has 8.75% but NOLA is 9%.
I collect tax all the time and I know. But this place has a POS that is an iPod they give you.

I wonder why they are skimming .75%

I saw it and didn't say anything, it's not like the server put it in. It's not much money either.

Was just odd to me. Reminded me of "Office Space" the 1/10 of a percents add up.

Anyway the food was excellent and even if the tax was 10% I would still go.

I just found it odd, and almost wondering if I should just point it out to them as I plan to go back there.

And again it's not at all the money, just the principle. If it's an extra fee for credit cards, hell I do that too, but I say it up front. And again only .75%, but still to collect that as "sales tax" is disingenuous.

I am pretty sure it's illegal to collect extra sales tax like that.

If it happened to you, it's probably happened to others. Most people don't notice a few pennies which can add up..for someone.

I know it is, that's why I didn't mention the place. the LDR would jump their shite.

The place takes your card and hands you an iPad with the square app on it. I just hit the middle button for 20% and signed and emailed the receipt. As I sit down now I just looked at the receipt and saw the tax rate was for LA county, not NOLA.
9.75% is what they pay in L.A. NOLA is 9.0 only higher if Hotel/motel.

I would wait until the next time I went in there then I would throw a fit right before my food came out.

well, you don't know until the bill comes out.

Also it was excellent, no real complaints. Would go back again and again.

Just that one little issue. I think I'm just going to email them and point it out.

It may just be an honest mistake. Send them an email. Go
eat again later on and see what happens.

I would tell them they are charging the wrong tax rate. I know it is a small percentage and it's likely an honest mistake so they probably would like it brought to their attention.
