So I bought an leaf hd antenna...planning to put in attic where cable supply currently comes in and splits to other rooms.
Have others had success with doing it like this?

I had to do that because my reception was poor in my living room. Luckily I had a conduit in the wall and ran the cable up through it. I get all the channels my area crystal clear. I've been off cable over two years now and it is great. Still have Uverse internet though.

Get a Roku and a chromecast. With those two things you can literally do whatever you want.

I'm doing it using Windows Media Center and four HDHomerun tuners. WMC provides a slick program guide and DVR capability that's as good as or better than cable or satellite. If you've gotten accustomed to these features it's not easy to go back to naked broadcast TV. I also have three Rokus and between Amazon Prime and Hulu Plus there's more than I could watch in three lifetimes.
Re the Mohu antenna, I bought a similar one from Terk (amplified) and don't really notice much of an improvement over ordinary rabbit ears. It's a lot easier to position your antenna if you know exactly what direction the stations are located. Go to TVFool and put in your address. It will give you the exact compass heading for the stations. If you don't have a compass, there's an app for that!

I have a full size outdoor antenna in my attic and it works flawlessly. AS long as your coax is run in parallel and you have good splitter(s) you shouldn't have any problems.

I use the Mohu Sky mounted inside attic & reception is great for locals which, in my case, are all under 40 miles.

What type of outdoor antenna do you have?

How do you watch live sports? ESPN etc.

One of those old school spider looking deals from radio shack. If amplified I could pick up channels from Lafayette and New Orleans.

I cut the cord a couple months ago and have barely missed cable. However, I can't imagine going without during football season. I'll likely be starting back up soon.

So you are telling me that Cox gives you access to WatchESPN without a subscription to any subscription to an ESPN network on their cable?
I don't believe it.

ESPN and the SEC are direct partners on SECTV are they not?

Not unless you could point it in two different directions at once.

If you know anyone with cable then you can use their password.
I'll have sectv and espn this fall. It's all I need.

Does not ESPN3 black out areas even when you have the password?
