My mother was gifted a 20 pound grouper and has requested it be cooked whole. Any ideas? I'm used to pan searing and blackening which is what I would normally do to a grouper but this is a new request.

That sounds like a, waste but to each their own. I have no clue how to cook a 20 lb fish.

I'll defer to the more experienced, but if I were you, I'd tell momma I love her, and if she gets me a grouper under ten pounds I 'll cook it whole, but this bitch is getting filleted, pan seared and served with a fine mother sauce. Capeesh?

I'd think a twenty pound grouper would be tough to evenly cook whole. By the time the core is cooked, the outside will be dehydrated as hell. I'm with Otis on this one.
