This is just shameful. The local firefighters and police were happy to accept the invitation.

Our military has just become another partisan political arm of Washington especially at the leadership level

Well you replace enough Generals and you get the results you want.

So what's to stop the chitren from visiting the armory or a recruiting display? We shouldn't be wasting money paying soldiers to go to those things.

What money would be wasted in sending soldiers to VBS?

Send a recruiter there and call it public relations. Give the kids a positive view of the military and some might join when they are older.

Everyone has gone completely nuts in this country. What is the big deal?

It states: “Army participation must not selectively benefit (or appear to benefit) any person, group, or corporation (whether profit or nonprofit); religion, sect, religious or sectarian group, or quasi-religious or ideological movement.”

The policy also states that troops are to avoid any activities that might involve or appear to involve the promotion, endorsement, or sponsorship of any religious or sectarian movement
quote:

In June, the Department of Defense gave permission for a military color guard to march in Washington, D.C.’s gay pride parade. It marked the first time in history the U.S. Army Military District of Washington participated in the parade

ETA: You know we are screwed as a country when the military can't visit a church but they can march in a gay pride parade.

and isn't that stupid that it would be ok for them to have the VBS kids visit them, but not the other way around?

As long as we're all ok with the same soldiers visiting a mosque as well as VBS, then i'm ok with it too.

My hunch though is that this isn't entirely about VBS. I think it's about these soldiers not visiting ANY church/temple/etc.. Would there not be an uproar about them visiting moslim kids?

I'm ok with the soldiers marching in the gay pride parade as long as they are also allowed to visit various churches and what not. To me it's either everything or nothing. They are the military of the people and defend our religious, sexual, ideological beliefs across all spectrums.

i agree with all that but i would change the wording a bit. i don't think they should be "defending our religions". Defending our right to believe what we want to believe is all i ask. We don't need crusaders.

And it's the arse kissers that rise to the leadership level.

It was dumb to follow the regulation. Just show up and ask for forgiveness later.
