After about eight months of renovations, the new Mellow Mushroom Pizza Bakers restaurant has opened at 3151 Johnston St. at the corner of Doucet Road near the Grand 16 Theatre.

Not like Lafayette needs another pizza place, but

Going to be the best beer bar in the city. I'll be there next week for sure.

It's mellow mushroom. What's underwhelming about it? I lived in BR for 5 years and went the mellow every once in a while. Never once had a bad experience. Good beer. Good food. Good prices.

It baffles my mind that a basic pizza and hoagie place, that carries a great beer selection can be "underwhelming".

What the frick do you expect, Carl?

Considering MM underwhelming is akin to ripping Walkons for not serving 4 star cuisine.

Man, that seems like a great spot for a restaurant, I wonder why no one else has tried to put one there.

The people bought the building. The reason prior businesses kept failing in that location is because the astronomical rent price.

$3.50 for a good beer is a good price. $9.00 for a full hoagie is a good price.

Sorry pizza prices aren't competing with your favorite, dominos?

They've been failing there since the 80's

Nah, but from what I was told by one of the guys at mellow is they have the place paid for, and just about every business prior was renting. People hammered and eating pizza after corner bar won't be a bad thing.

I'm not a big chain guy, but I love the MM in Fayetteville. They carry local beers on tap, have a good selection of craft beers and generally have pretty good food.

Their pizza prices are really high. If their premium pizzas were just a little bit cheaper, I'd eat there a lot more often because it's very tasty.

We went Tuesday night. I thought the pizza was pretty good, but their tap selection is lacking at the moment.
