The story of an unnamed insomniac narrator, his violent id come to life in the form of Tyler Durden, and an underground society built on bare-knuckle brawls and anarchic ideas continues in Fight Club 2, a 10-issue Dark Horse Comics maxiseries illustrated by Cameron Stewart, debuting in May 2015.

quote:

Fight Club 2 takes place alternately in the future and the past. It picks up a decade after the ending of his original book, where the protagonist is married to equally problematic Marla Singer and has a 9-year-old son named Junior, though the narrator is failing his son in the same way his dad failed him.

At the same time, Palahniuk says readers will have an idea of Tyler's true origins. "Tyler is something that maybe has been around for centuries and is not just this aberration that's popped into his mind."

Palahniuk brings back most of the characters in the first book as well as the organization Project Mayhem, which still has its hooks in the narrator as he has to save his boy when the youngster's life is in peril.

So...The narrator didn't go to jail for his horrific crimes?

I've seen this movie a dozen or more times and just now realized Norton had no name. WTF.

Why not write an actual novel sequel? Surely it would make more money/get more reads than a comic version.

I guess it'd be more work, too, though.

Palahniuk hasn't written a good book in a decade. Rant was an incoherent mess and had about two too many plotlines. I'm also willing to bet this will be a sequel to the film, not the book, which is slightly different.

If you want to see a how a sequel written about the movie adaptation and not the original book goes, I point you to Porno, Irvine Welsh's Trainspotting sequel. Or better yet, just trust me... it's God awful.

This is an unnecessary cash in, and has almost no chance of actually being good. So, yeah. I'll buy it. Damn you, Chuck.

this. 10 comic book issues is like 3-4 chapters worth of novel writing.

he also said he has to give the narrator a name now and is going with Cornelius

Survivor is amazing. Palahniuk's run of Fight Club, Invisible Monsters, Survivor, and Choke is unimpeachably great. It has earned him a lifetime pass in my eyes, which he has spent the rest of his life using.

Invisible Monsters is still my favorite, and totally unfilmable. But Survivor has a great conceit: the story is the black box recording of a plane hijacker. Don't worry, that gives nothing away.
