It WAS recoverable but IRS ignored advice to call in IT experts that could have recovered it.

But let me guess: the House Ways and Means Committee is as unreliable as Fox News.

What did Obama know? When did he know it?

ETA: In more principled times, he would have already been impeached and made to resign in shame. This is so much worse than Watergate.

The FBI has tools recover data off of a smashed HD.

quote:

Yes, physically destroying a hard drive renders your device and the data on it unusable. But with enough motivation and the right equipment—and the F.B.I. has both—some of your data can be recovered. Dan Kaminsky, chief scientist of security firm DKH, says 100 percent physical data destruction is nearly impossible. The only method that comes close is overwriting the disk. (Kaminsky is not involved with the Newtown case.)

I have emails in my gmail account from 3 or 4 years ago that I can access from any computer. But I'm smart enough to save the good shite.

The IRS is full of shite. And they need to get a better server.

I don't have any emails stored on a computer. In fact, I never have. I have converted some to a word document to use as incriminating evidence though.

Just wanted to test it, and I have gmail emails from 2005 in my account that are still searchable and retrievable.

It's so criminal.

They openly lie to congress, judges, etc.

They don't care. They know the fricksticks in congress won't do anything. They're all getting rich on insider trading.

I do too. I have some good shite from back in the day. I just put them in word so I don't have to search.

Maybe the IRS should switch to gmail.

As one of my professors who used to work for intel in the military and has alot of friends that work for a certain 3 letter agency (that is probably reading this as I type) would say, the only way to completely destroy a hard drive and any evidence of something is to not use the internet and dissolve the hardrive in acid.

I think we should be able to use that excuse.

I e file. My tax documents for the last 4 years are on my laptop. I have enough unnecessary crap around here (after all, I am a woman and we keep everything). If I printed them out I would lose them. They're safer on my laptop. And if I get audited, turbotax says that they have my back.

I hate the IRS.

I hate most government agencies, tbh. The IRS, DEA, and ATF are my most despised though. And Obama. I consider him a federal agency and I despise him.

The underlying issue here is that there is now absolutely zero credibility with the IRS. They are a governmental agency designed to steal from the tax paying citizens, which funds their existence. Yet we continue to look the other way and re-elect the same career politicians to rinse and repeat. We don't stand for anything anymore.

I agree.

If this country elects another fricktard, I'm moving to the Bahamas.

The IRS has always robbed everyone. They have been exposed and anyone with half of a damn knows that EMAILS ARE NOT STORED ON HARD DRIVES!!!

In fact, it takes quite a few clicks to save an email to a hard drive.
This government does wtf they want and all that we can do is watch them.

I wonder where the "usual suspects" are to explain this shite.

I don't care what your political standing is, this is absolutely unacceptable. No politician should use the government as a weapon against anyone.
