if you are truly sweating enough to need it, I think it is good in that it gives you a ton of sugar for energy and salt to replace what you have lost....
if you just want something to drink, it is terrible for you, though...

If you are doing real endurance training they can be good for you. Back when I was doing marathons their "recovery" products worked quite well provided I swallowed it down within about ten minutes of finishing.
That's the thing though, if you want the benefits you have to be diligent about consuming them pretty much as directed.
