How important is it to see Rise of the Planet of the Apes?

Thinking about going to see Dawn, but I never saw Rise. Bad decision?

I would see it. It's a good movie and it helps set up Dawn. It explains why the apes are the way they are.

Yeah. Not only will you not enjoy Dawn as much as you would if you knew how the entire movie got to where you come in at, but Rise is a really good movie.

You can't really appreciate the weight of the main character's choices without seeing it imo.

Good decision to hold off and watch Transformers instead.

You must have the titles confused. It's OK. Dawn is the new one in theaters.

You are kinda engrossed by the film, aren't you?

I like how the idea of someone liking the first one more is literally impossible.

Rise was ok, but Dawn was exponentially better.

You could probably still enjoy it. That being said, it does add more gravity and context to what you're watching. Greater comprehension of the setting and such generally is a good thing. And honestly, it probably gives pretty important information for the overall setting that explains why the apes and humans are what they are.

I'd probably watch Rise first. Just be prepared for a subpar performance from James Franco.

I saw Dawn without seeing Rise. Movie does a good job of giving you context. My buddy told me "Ceasar is the really smart monkey who learned to talk a bit in the lab from humans and he's the leader. Koba is this badass monkey that helped them escape the lab." The rest was all pretty easy to pick up on as far as their backstories go.

btw, the movie was fantastic

He's starting to recover. He now only has Caesar as his avatar and not also his sig pic.

It's good that someone is truly liking what they watch. We can get a little cantankerous around here.

In this case, it is.
