I know it is just a guessing game but with Beckwith possibly taking over at MIddle next year I think we have to get Clifton on the field. He is probably a 230-235 right now wich is heavy for Chavis OLB.

You edited that and that's still the best you could do?

Welter, Feist and Garrett at MLB this year.

I say Beckwith isn't going to be able to lose much weight and should be moved to DE.

DE's

1st string Rasco Hunter
2nd string Bower Beckwith

I get what your saying but chief has been adamant about Beckwith at MLB up to this point.

Damn. CG. IS it crazy that I have an obscene amount of optimism for this year with these freshmen?

Chief regruited him for Middle, but who knows. Just happy to have him on this team.

I agree. Beckwith has to be playing Mike. This team cannot afford another season of welter getting burnt in coverage and falling on top of the pile like he actually did something. I anxiously await the day Welter is no longer on the field!!!

I think CG is a true mlb. He's a between the tackle run stopper.

And Beckwith doesn't have to lose any weight. He's not making the switch back to DE. He's sticking at LB and will be a damn good 1. It's his natural position. Just because he's a bigger LB than what we are used to doesn't mean much to me. Chavis likes speed over size, not a secret. But Beckwith has both. He won't be switching back to DE.

Beckwith and Garrett will both be playing LB at the same time. Maybe not this season but next for sure. Way too much talent between those two at LB to keep off the field.

Just imagine if Kwon were to stay for his senior year. Meaning some how, some way, we would have Kwon, Beckwith, and Garrett all on the field at the same time.

I might be in the minority but I think Kwon comes back and the LB crew will be awesome next year.

i dont really agree with this...i dont think garret sees the field at middle this year with the loyalty of welter and Beckwith...Yes Beckwith is heavy...but look at how heavy Kelvin Sheppard and Kevin Minter were...Beckwith still has better speed and thumping ability than Welter...If Garrett sees the field on Defense itll be late in the games or due to injury from guys in front of him

I know. Guy makes a great play on the ball and gets a pick six in the spring game. Has a great nose/instincts in the run game. Hits like a nuke. Les Miles compliments him on being the fastest linebacker at SEC Media days....I sure hope he sees the field a lot! I keep wondering what he is doing wrong not to be on the field more.

Why do people have this misconception? There is not a specific size Chavis wants his guys at, he just won't sacrifice speed for the sake of size.

If Garrett and Beckwith can make decisions fast enough and move fast enough, it doesn't matter how big they are.

This. Beckwith has way to much talent to be playing 2nd string at DE. How we are going to platoon all those LB's in there this year is anyone's guess but one thing I do know is that they will all get playing time. Our LB's and DB's will play out there minds this year IMO

Did you guys read the article where Chavis asked Beckwith to lose weight and Beckwith agreed. It was in the article announcing his full-time move to LB.

Chavis wants Beckwith to lose weight.

Beckwith played last season at 250. A guy that young may have a tough time losing weight.

Next year, would we put a 250lbs Beckwith at will and put Garrett at middle to get them both on the field at the same time?
