That's a good one. You have to be really creative with your descriptions if you want to be a master somm.

The fresh tennis ball or cut garden hose descriptors were pretty great.

Plus being able to tell the difference between fresh roses, dead roses, an decaying roses ??? That's an amazing skill

It's one of the best docs on Netflix.

I thought SFP proved wine aficionados were full of shite.

Oh we are, we all are. However every morning around 10 AM and every night around 9 I typically evacuate it.

Great movie. How specific they can get with the blind tasting part is really impressive. Those guys wasted a lot of wine, though.

Also, I love some good pretentious, esoteric flavor descriptors.

Great Flick.

Though I've always wondered who pays for all of that wine? A vast majority of what they taste is $50+/bottle. I would venture to say that a good bit is $100+

You take advantage of as many opportunities to taste with importers and reps as possible without overwhelming yourself. Have random samples pulled for potential menu additions. Buy some yourself.

I really enjoyed it too.

There's another one called "Red Obsession" about the impact China is having on the Bordeaux market that I thought was super interesting in a completely different way.

Red obsession is great. Will watch Somm soon. Watched spinning plates last night. Pretty good. I'd love to have a drink with Atchaz.

There is another good doc featuring Maynard from tool about his vineyard. That guy is a nut.

My hope is that the Chinese move on from Bordeaux and on to Burgundy and start hoarding wines from that region, resulting in falling Bdx prices. One can dream.

I hope global warming really ramps up and they all start drinking Chardonnay.
