First time in the Nation's capital.

Good places to eat? Visit (besides the Mall, obviously? Local brews to try? Fun stuff?

Have a few hours of free time each day, thanks in advance!

For lunch grab a burger at Clyde's in Georgetown. One of the best burgers I have ever had.

A lot of good choices especially in DC itself. But a lot depends on where you are staying, what else you are doing, what kind of meal/experience you are looking for, etc.

Although the Clyde's suggestion is a pretty good one, and they have a couple of locations.

Capital City Brewery (on H Street I believe) is an option for brews.

Curious that you didn't ask anyone to 69 you.

I guess you're waiting on trill.

With him you don't have to ask.

Cause he's a rapist.

Fixed. Fun fact - when the President of Russia visited, Obama took him to lunch here. Clyde's isn't a bad burger but it ain't Ray's.

For lots and lots of dining options, google "Tyler Cowen's Ethnic Dining Guide". Written and maintained by a world-famous economist who apparently eats out just about every night.

Clyde's is good. Always consistent.

Billy Martin's Tavern - Georgetown.

Tabard Inn - DuPont Circle

You want a DC institution? The Prime Rib - not cheap. Jacket required.

For night life plus off-beat ethnic restaurants, try the Adams Morgan neighborhood around 18th Street and Columbia Road. The Grill from Ipanema for Brazilian food or Perry's for its rooftop service.

I like Lauriol Plaza for upscale Mexican, or its sister restaurant Cactus Cantina (which might not be very accessible for you. To take it up a notch, Rosa Mexicano with locations near Verizon Center and Friendship Heights.

If you find yourself near Cleveland Park, Medium Rare is an interesting and simple place for a good meal.

Old Ebbitt Grill is a DC institution, right near the White House. Anyone who dares to call himself "Senator" will have dined there.

I haven't been to Rays but I'm not going to argue, I'm sure it's awesome. I'm by no means an expert on DC, but when I am there Clyde's is always a must.

Old Ebbitt is definitely an institution. Highly recommended.

Best burger in DC is Shake Shack in DuPont. 18th and Connecticut. For dinner is go to jaleo or oyamel. They're both Jose andres restaurants. Small plates. Don't go to Georgetown cupcakes, the line is too long and the cupcakes are just ok. Sprinkles just down t he street on M is just as good.

Adams Morgan and DuPont are two areas I've been recommended from a friend who lives here, I'll definitely swing by.

Still hoping to find a good bar or two to swing in and grab a beer at.

Just walked the WH side of the Mall. WOW.

Staying two blocks from WH if that helps (Hilton).

If you are in Georgetown, Clydes is an institution in D.C. J. Pauls is pretty good. Filomena's if you like Italian.

Up in the Dupont Circle area, my favorite is The Palm in the 1200 block of 19th Street.

ETA: Across the street from The Palm is I Ricci. Great food, not your "spaghetti and meatballs" Italian restaurant.

Another good place in the Dupont Circle area is The Tabbard Inn. It's on either N or O Street.

The original Old Ebbitt Grill was great, not as impressed with the new one.
