LIst of college stadium scoreboards

LSU's main scoreboard is less than one-third the size of the new Kyle Field HD scoreboard and ranks as only 9th across the SEC and 50th in the nation among college stadiums.

Other than money, is there some architectural reason LSU can't kick it up a notch? Alleva says "it's all about the fan experience", and the stadium and wireless improvements are awesome, but why has he stayed cheap on the big board?

You can't have a huge screen and a plethora of ads.

I'm sure they will upgrade in the future but before they do I'd rather them take the $10 million or so and use it to match the west side façade to the north/south ends of the stadium.

The video board on the north end of the stadium is an embarrassment, with or without ads.

For some perspective, here are a few schools with substantially larger (and as you can see, nicer) videos boards than LSU...

Baylor:

South Carolina:

Arizona:

East Carolina:

Illinois:

Wake Forest:

Texas:

And finally...LSU:

IDK... All those huge screens/scoreboards seem to be all some fields(not even stadiums) have going for them... I mean don't get me wrong, its nice to have a big screen for a few replays a game wheb you really need to see something... But it is not something I need to have in TS on saturday

I would rather a real stadium with no scoreboards or video boards. All of those schools that you show need electronics to make their stadium sound louder. We rely on the old fashion fans and the voices. If you asked any of those fans - would you rather have a large video screen or Tiger Stadium, I would bet all of them would choose Tiger Stadium. 45k fans (like Baylor's new stadium will hold) needs a good video board or gimmick. We don't need that at Tiger Stadium. I do like the new corner screens.

Sadly, yes. Passed away a few months ago. He played in the Golden Band from Tigerland and was a true LSU fan. My little tribute includes the avatar he used for a very long time.

LSU's penchant for the ads taking up too much space is tacky

you contradicted yourself. I bet you prefer filterless cigarettes and outside toilets, too.

Yes; I recognized the avatar as well. I'm also a Tiger Band Alum and met him at the 2006 Band Reunion game vs. Fresno State in the pouring rain.

Big guy from Shreveport; I think he played Sousaphone. I believe he worked for Disney, if I remember correctly.

If it isn't too macabre to ask, how did he pass away? He was younger than me by about 8 years, I think.

Thanks,
DTM
