Long story that some of dont care about, but who cares.

My mother was in NOLA a couple weeks ago, and texted me askin where could she get a good steak. I proceeded to sell her on the quality and uniqueness of La Boca. She was very interested. La Boca or if you want traditional steakhouse... Mr Johns.

Last week she said she & my old man were coming to BR this weekend and wanted to go to Texas De Brazil. "You know, like we talked about in New Orleans."

No, not like La Boca. We proceeded to discuss the differences of La Boca from the meat buffet establishments known widely across America as Brazilian Steakhouses - NOT an Argentinian La Boca. Fogo De Chao, TDB, etc. I suggested if she was taking 5 of us out to dinner, the $350 she would spend at TDB would be much better suited at Ruths.

Said she would think about it.

Then asks yesterday about Middendorfs, as she wants to be casual. Good idea, if your out that way - but im not interested in driving an hour for fried catfish.

Then she asks about Satterfields, evidently it is the reatraunt where the most campaign dollars were spent by Louisiana politicians last year. I do not see how that info could be anywhere near accurate. I say if we go to New Roads, we give Hot Tails a go.

I suggested Roberto's, as she has never been there.... And Houmas. She scratchded Houmas as she believes she cannot go casual. She likes the looks of Roberto's. Ive been a few times.... Some were outstanding and some were mediocre.

Any other suggestions? She seems to be off the steak train.... Dont mind a little drive. I will make reservations if needed.

I could just cook her a steak here

I've eaten Hot Tails five or six times during lunch time and been extremely impressed. I don't know about their steaks, however.

Roberto's is casual enough for MrsbossflossSr. They let me consume enough white Zin on the rocks to kill a baby whale several years ago while another member of our party was passed out in the front seat of the truck at their front door. I ordered a duck dish and they brought me half a turkey in lieu of the waterfowl I requested. The poultry I was served was not kin to any duck species I've ever seen. It was more like a tender speckle belly on steroids. I revisited my baseball pitching days and hummed it back through the kitchen (hence the copious amount of White Zin on the rocks). That effectively ended that shite show at Roberto's.

If you go there, please report back and let me know if it was good and if my face is or is not posted on a Wanted sign at their door.

That was a period in my life that should have been voided, tbh. Mrs4lsu2 was with us that night, but she hadn't officially fallen in love and realized she couldn't live her life without me yet. We had a pool party all day at CBULSU316's apartment and the beer wasn't doing it after 20 or 30 of them had been poured down my goozle. A box of White Zin on the rocks was my go-to concoction to assure the evening was going to be nothing short of a disaster during those days.

Get the hell off my shoe.

My Satterfields story is troublesome. Kids wanted to ride the tube so we dumped the boat in False River a few weeks ago and drug them up and down it for a few hours. Stopped in Satterfields for lunch since they bulldozed Bonaventures which had a top 5 burger in the state. 4 kids age 13-17 , 4 adults. Two other tables full, Saturday on the river, noonish. Chicken tender, club sandwiches, beer, Dr Peppers. 60 minutes later, raw chicken, cheeseburger, salad.

Being the polite person that I am , I politely asked what the frick is this?

Manager walked out a few moments later and said "is this the table that had the raw chicken?" and set a piece of cake in a to go box on the table.

We didn't say much, we laughed about it, gave them the months rent and got on the boat.

True story. It was so bad we just made fun of it even at the table during the wait. AND you didn't see me come here to post for a free meal.

Plus my friend picked up the tab since I was dragging her kids on the tube. I can't complain.

Get momma a steak at Roberto's. Leave Pointe Coupee Parish out of the equation.

fwiw, I've enjoyed this thread very much and have been sufficiently entertained by most of the posters that I have had the terrible misfortune to get to know and meet through the years. i will smile for the rest of the day.

I'm a French Market Bistro fan and it seems like most are kind of in the closet. Doesn't get the love it deserves. Great small bar that you can hide in and the food is just on point always. Not fancy but very well executed and consistent with a really good wine list.

If you're going to new roads, hot tails or my mama's are legit. Satterfields is horrible.

Are you a politician? I've certainly seen plenty over the years, especially on those few stools all the way at the end. Really good food and service-same owners as Mansurs? The Crab and Brie soup certainly suggests it is.
