I have always thought it was very overrated, but now, as I am older, I really think it is a cheesy crap fest with a great soundtrack.

What do you think?

i always feel Tom Cruise-ish when i put on my raybans.

Driving wide open on the interstate with your windows down blaring the TG sou.ndtrack is always fun

Cheesy as hell, but..............I really do love it. It is one of the most quotable movies ever to me and I watch it at least once or twice a year

Kelly McGillis was one of the ugliest chicks playing a hottie. She did not age well.

Needs to be remade. Hopefully Michael Bay would be involved.

It is happy.

Haven't you seen The Day After, Threads, On The Beach, and When The Wind Blows.

Nothing but happy. If by happy you mean Todd Solondz levels of Happiness.

We laughed at it in the theater.

We chuckle every time we see it as we surf past it on the TV.

Deluxe cheeseburger with a side of Loggins.

Cruise made another set of shades cool & helped recruiting in one flick...that I still quote to this day. Grats to whoever posted that honest trailer.

Much made fun of...
But great movie. One of my guilty pleasures.

I try to work in a
"Mother Goose...you pussy!" at least once a day.

Loved it when I was a kid. I was big into planes. As I got older, I realized how fricking cheesy it is.

Plus I can't take Tom Cruise seriously anymore, and I don't understand how anyone does. I can't believe he still lands all these huge roles.

The volleyball scene is stupid. I remember seeing it for the first time on a big screen TV when I was a kid. The dogfight scenes were awesome at that time. No CGI involved either. What they were able to do with military jets in a movie was pretty damn cool for 1986. Other than that, it's kind of dumb.

It's one of my favorite movies from growing up. It reminds me of rocky. Good music during movie makes it seem better

This. It's perfectly popcorn, for lack of a better word. And on top of that, it's basically perfectly "80s". And it's one of my favorite movies of all time, both because I think it's actually pretty good (and gets hated on because it's cool to call it gay...though I won't argue that it wasn't made as cheesy 80s man candy for the ladies ) and for nostalgia purposes. I love it. And can quote it back and forth.
