OP UPDATED: Johnny's Pizza/Katy...went last night.

A) is it really as good as I hear?
B) What should I order when I go?
ETA:
Thanks for the replies. Notes from a first-timer:
Intended to stop in Johnny's last night and order some things to-go...was pleasantly surprised to find out they had the buffet open for some reason. They never explained why it was open, aside from calling it a 'special event'. No matter, I decided the buffet would be a good introduction to a variety of Johnny's offerings.
The mini breadsticks are very good. I took everyone's advice, and made good use of the cheese sauce.
I had slices of Maui Wowie, Bacon Cheeseburger, Hog Heaven, Sweep the Kitchen, and Plain cheese.
The Sweep the Kitchen was my favorite. Tons of toppings, and the result is delicious.
The others were good, but on par with Double Dave's, Domino's, or Hungry Howie's. Nothing to really set it apart from the pack.
However, I did appreciate the fact that the crust was properly cooked from edge to middle, without any 'sog'. Also, the sauce is on the sweet side, and that's not a bad thing.
Speaking of sweet, I tried the cinnamon sticks and the Peach Puddin' Pie. The cinnamon sticks are among the worst dessert item I have had from a pizza joint. They quickly made up for it with the Peach one. That thing, along with the Sweep the Kitchen, will turn me into a repeat customer.
CONCLUSION: My experience was most certainly affected by the lack of nostalgia that I have for this place. It seems that Johnny's pizza is one of those things that people are emotionally attached to...and why not? Eating pizza as a kid is fun. It's eaten during parties, it's eaten with your hands, it's covered with melted cheese....it's seemingly the perfect food. As we grow older, our taste buds may become a little more discerning, but that doesn't affect our memories. And those memories help food taste better. This is a strong component of 'comfort food'...
....I am without those memories.
I will go back. I thought it was good. It just wasn't special.
- but I totally understand why many would disagree.

It recently opened. I've heard that they've been doing well so far. Get a sweep the kitchen.

We like it.
You know we have Grimaldis too. It ain't grimaldis. But in the whole papa johns, dominos, Pizza Hut tier of places it beats them hands down.
Decent little beer selection too for dine in for a pizza place of that caliber.
I'll never get dominos again. If somebody else is buying I will eat it but IMO it is better than all at that price point.

I haven't had Grimaldi's yet, either.
I'll try them right after Johnny's.

Don't have high expectations, you'll probably be disappointed.
But hey at least you can walk right there to that Spec's and stick up on some awesome beer!
