Rusty Nail would be my first choice.

One more option I didn't see listed would be Capdeville.

staying on canal but wouldn't mind taking a cab to the warehouse district.

Carousel Bar is a must for one drink. Grasshopper FTW. But they can make any specialty drink in NOLA.
Sazerac at the Roosevelt Hotel is a good upscale spot too.

I love the piano bar but not enough to wait an hour in line to get in.

Patio is fun for day drinking

Sounds good. Just don't feel like fighting the crowds and trash in FQ.

Lucys and rusty it is.. Anything else you'd recommend that is similar to those 2?

I'm not sure I'd put Lucy's in that group. IMO its all college kids and kids just out of college. I'll probably get lambasted for it, but i think it sucks as a specific drinking spot.

In the FQ - Chart Room, Napoleon House, Carousel Bar, Sazerac Bar, and Sobou.

Rusty Nail, District, Vic's, and Wino are a bit older crowd (like 30-40).
