Here I was thinking that the main people who were benefiting from this law were middle and upper class people who were denied coverage due to prior sickness.

I can understand subsidies for poorer folks, but you cannot tell me with a straight face that almost 90% of enrollees need those subsidies.

Pisses me off to no end seeing people like Jeauxbleaux getting insurance for $45 fricking dollars/month.

People paid more than that 25 years ago.

Subsidies are available for people earning up to 400% of the poverty level. So 87% receiving subsidies is not the least bit surprising to me. The amount of subsidy decreases as income increases. So the subsidies some receive are actually quite small.

And the people from 34 states that do not have state exchanges will lose said subsides if the plaintiff, Halbig, wins in the DC Circuit court in Hlbig vs. Burwell. A ruling is imminent.

Maybe, maybe not. The Administration will request an en banc hearing if it's overturned, and Democratic appointees outnumber Republican ones on that circuit 7-4.

It's estimated that $36.143 billion will be doled out in subsides for fiscal year 2016. LINK

What made you think that? I am pro-ObamaCare but I always thought the number of uninsured due to cost was higher. Plus, these numbers are only for those who used the website.

Technically all insurance is an "Obamacare" policy now, to my understanding. Although some people can still get the catastrophe policies under ObamaCare as well.

Many warned that Obamacare was a socialized wealth transfer dressed up to look like a market.

They were ridiculed.

It's not a subsidy; it's an advanced tax credit. It's actually based on a previous year's income.

If your income based is higher that what is listed on the Obamacare site you owe the IRS money.

The IRS has already red flagged over 1 million people receiving assistance for Obamacare, whose previous tax returns show them making too much money to qualify for the tax credit.

My kid's employer just switched from PPO to an HMO with an HSA(don't you just love acronyms?) because their Insurance Policy went up 48% from last year.

Single with no kids, so not effected that much.

But the ones with kids are really upset.

I'm guessing the hard drives containing that data will not crash.

I thought the tax credits were separate support systems?
