Question for business people in the New Orleans area

I recently got offered a job with a firm in New Orleans. Salary is 52,000. I just graduated, so I'm kind of trying to get an understanding of the area and if the salary is ample to live respectively in the area. Just need some advice/input.

The per capita income in New Orleans is just under $27K, the state of Louisiana is around 24K. So you will be making twice what the average person.

It will be enough, but housing cost is high.

If you're single with no kids you can live very VERY comfortably on that.
ETA: I disagree with the other poster that the cost of housing is high. It's definitely rising, but you can find some really nice places in the $1000-1500 range. That's very respectable for a large city.

So was it PWC, KPMG, Deloitte, or EY?

Yeah, for a single person $1,000/mo is easily doable and $1,500 will put you in territory.
At your age, live downtown. You'll get a little less apartment for the $ but I think it's worth it.

Just you? No kids or spouse/gf?
What kind of debt you have? Student loans? Anything else?
You can definetly live respectfully. That's not baller range for this area, but, you won't be living in the slums either.
Opttions: Mid City has a lot of nice upgraded doubles. You might be able to find something in warehouse district for that. Another option is Metairie. Have a friend that live in a apt complex next to the Galleria and it is very nice and a lot of the apts were just redone. I'm sure she pays less than 1,000/month and she has a 2 bedroom.

Actual take home will be much less so welcome to poverty.

Yeah OP is only in the 85th percentile of single wage earners, as a freshly graduated 23 year old. Better get you some EBT

This isn't New Orleans, and I don't mean technically.
I would look uptown(most neighborhoods), parts of midcity (near bayou), and Warehouse Dist.

Uhh... I'm fairly certain Metairie is in the New Orleans Area.
Not saying he should live there, was making a suggestion.

Right, I'm just making it clear that Metairie "living" isn't anything like New Orleans "living". Especially for a single person recently out of college.
ETA: You seemed to leave out my "I don't mean technically" portion.

If you are implying that living in the city is somewhow "cooler" or "more desireable" for a young single professional than living in suburbia... well yeah I agree.
You could say that about any metro area.

New Orleans business person checking in. I started at the same salary, likely for the same firm or industry, a few years ago and it is plenty of income. If you have a roommate that will certainly ease the burden.

The poster won't get nearly the subsidies they get.

Reconsider.
Don't be enticed by the low cost of living for a city the size of NOLA. The baggage will eventually suck you dry, and if you're planning on owning a home anywhere in NOLA you can expect the life expectancy of said community to be no more than 15-20 years due to intentional zoning and blockbusting schemes the city will implement to manufacture a real estate bubble-bust cycle as well as the construction and development booms that are going to occur at your expense.
Unless you are pulling in around $85k annually, then New Orleans is not the place to start a future. It's just a bad investment all around.

I was actually looking into living in Metairie. It's not very far from where I'll be working. The position is with P&N by the way.

What does living respectively entail? Did you mean living respectably?
