She is very serious girlfriend. I asked her to move in with me. She agreed and asked me to tell her how much rent for her to pay.

My mortgage payment is $772/month. My utilities are around $150. I don't have tv, but my internet is $80.

She currently pays $400 for rent and shares the house with 3 other girls.

Honestly, anything I ask her to pay me would basically be an investment towards her engagement ring.

Thoughts on how much to charge her?

This thread would be more entertaining on the OT, but I have no idea...

She's used to paying $400. Keep it there.

Generally, and then considering your bills, this is probably the best idea.

I'd say half, but it would kind of suck for her to have to start paying more to live with you. I think $400/mo is fair.

So 1/2 is about $500...stick with $400 and avoid it being an issue. Not worth it.

I disagree with half being fair since part of the mortgage is going to you owning the house. I know you said buying an engagement ring, but until she owns half (married), paying half favors you.

I would keep it at $400 then subtly letting her know that you are paying the other $600. Both of you will be much happier for it.

That's a bad idea.

Just tell $400 and keep his mouth shut....if he starts hinting that he's paying more, she'll feel like he's holding that against her and it'll create animosity and resentment.

Frick that. That's the worst thing he could do, give her a free ride.

$400 sounds reasonable. It'll be a comfortable spot for her financially and free money for you, essentially (I'm guessing y'all practically live together as is).

more entertaining on the OT,

Nothing more exciting than a Money Talk girlfriend thread with no pictures.

How about $250 but you get to PIHB.

No doubt it should go like this:

PIIHB half off the 400.

cooks and cleans 300.

anything else 400

She will be a month to month tenant. If you decide to break up with her. Make sure you give her a 30 day written notice

(My italics)

Tell her to lighten up.

Additionally, you invited her to move in. Duoh!

$400 is the correct answer here. If you invited her then it's pretty much your job to make it as convenient as possible.

Otherwise you tell her straight up that she can move in with you if she wants, but her rent will be higher.
