Headed out to Fouchon for a fishing/coaches retreat this weekend. Only fished the area a couple times. Going for specks anyone got some good tips or places ? Already know about the rocks off the beach any other good spots to start?

For future reference: Fourchon, with an r. The R is definitely silent, though.

What kind of boat will you be in?

With regards to bait, live shrimp or croaker will always send specks into a tizzy, but they're kind of pricey. If you're looking artificial, I've always liked saltwater assassins. I'm kind of partial to Electric Chicken in a Sea Shad.

ETA - You'll also get frustrated by the mortality rate of croakers and shrimp.

Live shrimp at the jetties worked well enough recently.

Timbalier has not been producing. Fish the beach with live shrimp. Once you find a school you can switch to voodoo shrimp. Fish the barges, also.
