Pope Flatulence says that we need to welcome the illegal immigrants with open arms and provide for them

This Pope has a lot of nerve

Hey Pope Flatulence, what is the immigration policy in the Vatican? Would you be OK if they were streaming into the Vatican instead? Why aren't you personally willing to take some of these illegal migrants and provide for them yourself with all of your resources avaliable to you in the Vatican?

And they are all coming from countries where Catholicism dominates. Why not visit the Catholic Churches in these impovershed countries in Central America and work with them and the bishops there to protect these illegals instead of encouraging them to make the dangerous trek to the US Border? Why not use your influence and try to improve these Central American countries so they won't have to risk their lives to flee?

Tired of these do as I say, not as I do types. I am glad I am not a catholic, as far as I am concerned the Pope has no authority whatsoever.

Time to fuel up a couple of C117's and send them to the Vatican.

Actually, the catholic church is going to pay for a lot of it, not as much as the American taxpayers are, though.

EXACTLY.

I like this pope but don't tell the US how to function or spend it's money.

On his 77th birthday, Pope Francis welcomed homeless men to the Vatican. (L'Osservatore Romano/Associated Press handout)

This is the part I am referring to. He can foot our bill if he wants to dictate what we should do

Perhaps some help from the Vatican coffers would take care of these folks. That's what that money is for, right?

Pope Francis is approaching this from a strictly religious point of view. What did Jesus tell the rich man? Sell all of your possessions and follow me. He's basically telling the U.S. to take a hit and help take care of these people who are simply looking for a better life. Is this the practical thing to do economically? Heck no. Is it the right thing to do as Christians? Heck yes.

at least he is consistent on his messages. I have to respect that. He knows this isn't going to play well with a lot of catholics in the US, and he DGAF.

First of all, there's no link to him saying that. Second of all, if he did, he's probably saying that we SHOULD not MUST. The pope has no authority over U.S. domestic policy so anything he says is just a recommendation. Obviously, it's not a good idea, but who gives a shite? He's the pope, not the president who has horrible ideas that are actually enacted.

Is he saying the church needs to or the state needs to? If he is saying the church should do what they can to help these people I'm all for it. If he's saying American tax payers should fund it that's crossing the line. Not the governments job.

Good. Most of the immigrants are Catholic anyways and yes if you are a Christian and a Roman Catholic your first allegiance is to Jesus and the Church and the USA a distant second.

Logic tells me he is calling for Catholics to help these people.

Imagine the nerve of a Christian recommending people take care of the less fortunate among them. What a fricking homo.

I have a feeling that you wouldn't be so positive about this allegiance if it was about something else.
