He won't even be in our top 40, much less 23.

If he didn't make it this year, why would he play 4 years from now?

That's the most Eddie Johnson thing I've ever heard Eddie Johnson say. Pretty impressive, really.

I guess he forgot that we won't be playing Cuba, Barbados, and Dominican Republic in the World Cup.
He has had more chances than any other player in USMNT history. We just need to take him out to the shed and finally be rid of him. All he does is take easy games away from our young strikers who could be bagging International goals.
ETA: While we're at it lets bring Kenny Cooper and Jonathon Spector.
ETA2: I would rather have Ching playing in Russia than EJ.

In 4 years, he'll go from Grown arse Man to Old arse Man.

I can't be mad at him for having that mindset, no matter how farfetched it may be.
Here's to you, GAM

Several little kids in this thread. Y'all need to get grown or get gone.

I think you're very off on this. Although I think he's delusional and crazy, he has more athleticism and skill than someone players. Wondo has made a living of poaching against shitty Central American and Caribbean teams as well. GAM has had some very big scores or plays to set up scores against quality teams. Yea, he won't sniff Russia but at least he has a dream, I won't fault him for that. There's no denying he should have been in at least the 30 for this World Cup.

He's right about the game slowing down but so will he. Since athleticism is his calling card, he probably won't have much going for him. Then he's gotta beat Boyd, Agudelo, Dempsey, Bacon and whoever breaks out before then.

GAM should have been Jozy's replacement in my book.

I agree. Even if he woulda sucked, we coulda kept the rest of the lineup the same. He at least has speed to go over the top and can go up high for headers

He did score 5 goals in 2013 play (which was 5th over all Altidore 8, Donovan 8, Dempsey 6, and Wondo 6)
I will give you that in two of those games his goals were useful. 2-0 v Panama, and Dos e Cero in WCQ. Both goals were the first goals.
I'm going to disagree and go further and say he didn't belong on the 2006 roster. I would have rather had Donovan and Boyd over him.
I'm probably just being irrational, but whenever I see him he just bring up in my mind what was wrong with the USMNT for so long. Just hoofing the ball down the pitch and have him outrun everyone.
Then when he got to Fulham he was a complete embarrassment when it was found out he had no actual skill but speed.
He is one of the prime examples of why I hate people that say, "(insert NBA/NFL athlete here) would dominate soccer."
ETA: Miss read 30 for 23. I agree, only because of the Mexico game, but don't think he should have been in the final roster nor in any future USMNT rosters.

GAM would have allowed Dempsey and Bradley to play their natural positions. Of course Wondo would have too. Jurgen blew the tactics after Jozy went down and he blew the selection by not bringing a backup target, whether it be GAM, Boyd or Agudelo. I'd have taken GAM for experience, but any would have done.

Que? He was actually one of the few guys that didn't look scared as shite in the Czech Rep. match.

His goal against Panama was the 2nd of that match. Jozy scored the first one.

You're also judging him because for years we had no tactics except to boot the ball from the back and hope he or Jozy could do something. I'm not saying he's good, I'm saying he could have been used, at least for his athleticism and maybe a little creativity. He also is extremelyyyyyyyyy confident in himself. He shouldn't be, but he is. He is a guy I wouldn't mind having as a sub when needing a goal because the moment isn't too big for him. I seriously hate to continue to bring it up, but a guy like Wondo, the moment was way too big for him.
But I would take Donovan over Wondo and GAM all day. But I also wouldn't have had Davis on the team, either

I like your devil's advocate, but the two really aren't comparable.

He would have buried that chance Wondo blew

um no
Wondo is not that type of striker

Should have been Boyd or LD over Wondo to start with.
