Friend/ex-roommate is offering to take me to dinner b/c I've been letting her stay w/ me for 2 weeks while she has been in town visiting people, bachelorette party, etc., and am letting 2 of her friends stay on Sunday night b/c their flight is on Monday after the bachelorette party.

Anyway, I told her to pick b/c I don't know how much she wants to spend (she's a teacher), but she keeps telling me to pick. Where should I suggest?

Bacchanal. Get 4 bottles of wine. Foursome later that night. You're welcome.

But seriously, how about Mariza?

Which night/day?

Hard to beat Peche on value/quality. 2nd choice would be Lola. Nice little spot where you can enjoy some sangria & paella and not break the bank.

I'd pick a place that you can share small plates...that way you can eat well and let her order as much or as little as her budget allows. Mariza and Peche both great suggestions.

Boucherie or try to get somewhere to catch some of happy hour. Domenica, Borgne. SoBou and Kingfish are doing a $35 TOTC dinner. Tivoli and Lee is $45. Green Goddess is $38.

Peche is probably out then.

Rum House. You plus 3 chicks there.

If you are worried about price, you should try to make a happy hour somewhere. Domenica reopened today. Salu has a good happy hour ($8 flatbreads & $3 cocktails). Borgne has been talked quite a bit on here another great happy hour. Dominque's has half price small plates & $5 cocktails.

Not sure where I would go, but I would choose somewhere that you haven't been before since you're being treated.

Off topic,

Engaged and her fiance is cool with her living out of town with a single guy for two weeks?

I wonder how many cuckold sites that dude has in his bookmarks.

I'm glad somebody said something. This thread is crazy.
No way in hell I'd have let my fiancé take some dude to dinner.

I've met the guy before.

I gave her a list:

Dick & Jenny's
NOLA
Bon Ton Cafe
Eat
Kingfish
Sylvain
Brisbi's
Ye Old College Inn
Cafe B

Hopefully that is enough variety for her.

I don't want to derail this thread, you should make a thread on the OT.

Peche is better for the same price. also, my girl went to Basin for the first time recently and said she was pleasantly surprised.

I went there for lunch the other day. Got a pretty good fish sandwich.

I wouldn't sweat taking it easy on her, she's still going to come out ahead with free room and board.

A friend of mine messaged me yesterday wanting to take me to Stroubes. I told her it's going to cost her. I have no problem ordering what i want, just as I have no problem with other people doing the same when i'm picking up the bill.

But I understand the potential for an astronomical bill isn't the same here as it is in NOLA.
