Spelling mistake aside, how does Klinnsmann deserve credit for this? Germany already had three stars above the crest and is always a contender. How do you assign credit for a world power winning another world cup to a coach who hasn't coached there in a decade. I get that he made changes to the youth setup, but shite, Lowe's been there for 8 years. I guess Juergen can blame Bruce Arena for the us coming to the world cup and parking the bus.

German football was on the decline big time after losing the 2002 WC. They had no vision what so ever, no depth and no young and up coming players.
Jurgy getting them that far on 2006 was brilliance, even the German fans thought they would not get that far. He put a huge emphasis on revamping their youth system for club and country.

The same approach he is using now even though it pisses off a lot of MLS backers when he speaks out.

You're really moronic sometimes.

Why would MLS backers be angry about youth development and player transfers? Both of these greatly improve the quality of the league.

Please prove that you're not just building a straw-man here

When he talks about players he thinks should move to Europe or stay in Europe, don't get so damn defensive.

JK knows what role MLS needs to play but he prefers the players to move over seas and the young players to develop over there until our youth academies are up to par.

I'll never understand why people insist on crediting and blaming leaders when bigger and more complex economic and demographic engines at play. Clinton didn't create the dot com boom, W didn't crash the housing market, and Obama didn't take our jerbs. People like to find correlation and causation in the most tenuous of connections.

This is so apples to oranges.

JK basically called out the Bund after 2006 and said if we dont fix this the national team we be a disaster for a generation. He forced his way into a lot of things to fix it and was basically one of the reasons he left the national team b/c the Bund felt like he over stepped his boundaries. But after it was said and done he was right and his assistant kept the vision going.

To be fair, the German youth revolution started a long time before Klinsmann. The DFB started the plan after 2000, with their poor showing at the 98 WC and Euro 2000. Klinsmann was a part of that revolution, but he wasn't the one who started it. Uli Hesse Lichtenberger has an article on it called "On Reaping the Rewards of a Winning Mentality." I can't find it anymore, but it basically outlines the whole process, from shame at Euro 2000 to the success of the 2009 U-21 European Championship. 6 players from that U-21 squad made this team.

Thanks, Crazy.

MLS started to move toward academy development before we hired Klinnsmann. We put two Academy products in this World Cup. Yedlin and Honduras' Najar.

The rise of US Soccer is a total team effort from the federation, not one man's revolution. How many Germans think Jurgen was responsible for this world cup victory? Probably less than there should be. But they aren't being as unreasonable as American soccer fans are.

Not saying he's solely responsible but he has the ideas and knows the process that can be imitated here. Or just about anywhere really. That's the whole reason I wanted him in the first place. To bring ideas to help change the set up here.
