I will be using it and it will lock up for 1-2 seconds at a time before it responds again. Any thoughts? This happens a lot.

Which launcher? Touchwiz? Use Nova. Disable the phone carrier apps and other apps that you don't use.

1. I don't know what a launcher is
2. How do I disable the apps?

Go to the play store.
1) Look up Nova launcher and download that.
2) When you open Nova launcher it will look like another launcher.
3) Long press on an empty space to open up Nova Settings
4) Go to Desktop and do these settings
- Infinite scroll [checked]
- Scroll effect (your choice)
5) Go to Look and Feel
- Scroll/Animation/ use (fast) to start with
- Use Slide up animation on App Animation
6) Gestures and buttons
- Swipe down - Expand Notifications
- Swipe up - App drawer
7) Nova is now set up decently. Tweak to your preferences. Add widgets like before
8) Go to your phones settings and go to apps.
9) Go to all apps
10) Disable things like ATT Smart Wifi...Anything that you don't use and can't uninstall.

I hate my S4. Most underwhelming phone I've had. Upgrading in a month and getting a G3 or Iphone

You will continue to see LG increase in popularity and Samsung will slowly decrease and settle out. With each new Galaxy S release the phone has been further locked down and the amount of samsumg/mobile service bloat has increased. I used to love the Galaxy S line of phones, but now I will stick with Nexus or LG G phones. Switch to either one of those and you'll enjoy Android much more!

Makes sense. All my issues started after the last update about 2 months ago I think
