When did the rangers become terrible?

At the grandparents this weekend in the DFW area and all I've heard from them is how bad the rangers are this year. Watched the game last night, up 2-1 until the 6th where they give up 4 and lose 5-2. Lost their last 21 out of their last 24 games. Now today, just watched a blooper by Trout to center that scored 3, shouldve only let in 1 run maybe 2.
So i ask, what the hell happened this season? Ive been coming here since Ive been 5 and never seen it this ugly.

They have absolutely horrible injury problems. I hate the Rangers, but even I can defend them a little bit.
I heard some stat like they already have more games missed this year than the leading teams for the last two years combined or some shite.

I've started laughing when I read about a player being out for the season. It's not even surprising anymore. If tomorrow I found out Yu needed a season-ending surgery, I wouldn't even be mad. I'm numb to the disappointment.
The only positive is that they are getting a chance to evaluate a lot of their young talent.

Who hates the Rangers? That doesn't even makes sense.

Injuries and lost a lot of the people that made up the 09-12 teams.
Their decent playoff teams in the 90s went the same way.

Cards crushed their dreams

Considering how well hamilton's been hitting against them this series that seems like the biggest loss.
For the record, I'm a mets fan so I'm used to watching terrible baseball, just not from the rangers

They've always been a joke since they were formed as the second Washington Senators.
Outside of the 1996-1999 stretch and the 2010-2013 stretch, they were in pennant contention into September only three other times: 1974, 1993, and 2004.
It's not a matter of becoming terrible, it's a matter of returning to their historical levels.
But having Jon the Moron isn't helping. One trade (Elvis) and one FA signing (Beltre) does not a GM make.

I hate the Rangers so I'm enjoying every second of this. But they really do have really bad injury problems and that sucks for them.

He also signed Yu and traded for Hamilton, Cruz, and Cliff Lee among others. Furthermore, recently we have maintained a strong farm system that will continue our success in the future. He has been the GM during the most successful period in Rangers history so he must be doing something right.

It all started to go downhill when Hamilton went into the slump and falling out with management. Summer of '12.
