So the Rockets missed out on the big names this free agency. I wish it played out differently but it's not Morey's fault. He took a team centered around Asik and Lin and brought in 2 top ten players in 12 months. Pelican trolls are welcome to join, Morey still turned a team that was as bad as the Pelicans 2 yrs ago into a 4 seed last year without the almighty AD

only thing he could be blamed for is the parsons deal but he went for it and can't be mad at him

He's a gambler. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't.

As a fan you got to love that they are willing to spend money. Making parsons a restricted free agent insured you'd have your 3 best current players together for 2 more years plus whoever you pick up in free agency. Just didn't work out.

Giving away your team's top bench players while making a ridiculous bet on two stars who were using you for leverage is not his fault? This was an epic fail.

And has done nothing to improve a team that was bounced in the 1st round of the playoffs

54 wins. Much improved despite playoff loss.

I agree. If OKC doesn't make that dumb mistake with Harden, he is probably fired.

The Rockets have two top ten players?

They will get 2 decent trade exceptions out of Lin and Asik, but other than that, I think they'll be pretty capped out once they match Parsons. Basically you've become the Clippers, not quite good enough to win it all and too capped out to get the guy that puts you over the top.

Arguably the best 2 and 5 in the game.

I'm not a Rockets fan but I love Morey's strategy. It didn't work but I would want my team to have a GM that is trying to hit home runs instead of playing it safe. If Bosh had signed, they would be title contenders for at least 3 years. It was a great move; the results just didn't work out.

The 5 is a joke in today's league but give me Cousins over Howard every day and Harden plays no d, he forfeits any claim to best in the league at the 2. And neither cracked the top 10 in per.

They've won 1 playoff series in his entire tenure....

No one is dogging Morey around the league. This was a case of bad luck, not bad design.

I do agree that some Rockets fans overrate him, but to get the roster where it is now after the McGrady / Yao years is pretty amazing.

I would like to keep Parsons, even at his contract, try to add a couple of role players and go from there. The team is still one of the youngest in the league and will be a contender in the West. It sucks we didn't get Bosh but in no means is it the end of the world.

I love Boogie, but come on man.

You can't say this about Harden:

quote:

plays no d, he forfeits any claim to best in the league

then claim Cousins is the best Center in the league.

He'll probably get fired based on that in a year or so and will be unemployed for about 5 seconds. The team has been in a loaded West and had career ending injuries to McGrady and Yao to come back from. It will be tough for them to win a series again with Bosh spurning them.

This is obviously a results oriented league but he has made good moves. If I was a Rockets fan, I'd be all on board with him.
