Why didn't the Atlanta Falcons draft a Tight-End?

gearing up for fantasy and remembered that Tony retired. Looking at their roster I see these guys:
Bear and Shuler are nothing
Toilio is huge but slow and plays small
the rooks(undrafted FA's)
pederson 40 Yrd Dash: 4.82(what starting LB can't cover that?)
wosniak has like 15 catches in his 4 year career
are they going to use a TE this year? I don't see an acceptable starter in the bunch.

You'd be surprised.

Because they drafted one in the early rounds last year.

Toilolo was supposed to immediately start last year but Gonzales came back

Only 2.7 percent of Matt Ryan's 2013 throws targeted an in-line tight end, the lowest percentage in the league last year.
The stat is skewed because Tony Gonzalez so frequently aligned in the slot, but throwing to in-line or "Y" tight ends hasn't been a big part of OC Dirk Koetter's passing attack. The Falcons will play base-three-receiver offense with Gonzo retired, leaving Levine Toilolo to fill the in-line role. Expect Toilolo to see very limited volume
I guess they will just get Harry D to see Tony's targets?

Because they enjoy making stupid off-season and in-season decisions that lead to years and years of mediocrity and defeat

They will use more of a 3 WR set instead of a 21 formation

NO: Jimmy Graham/Ben Watson
CAR: Greg Olsen/Ed Dickson
Tampa Bay:Austin Seferian-Jenkins/Brandon Meyers/Tim Wright
just seems a bit strange that they knew TG was leaving...he gave them a ton of notice, yet made no priority signings like meyers

Have you not already answered your own question? We have a guy that we feel comfortable starting but a true tight end isn't a focal point in our offense. We had other needs in the draft other than TE.

Toilolo is their guy. 6'8 265lbs that with 34 1/2 inch arms and a 31inch vertical. Not a burner, but still ran in the low 4.8s high 4.7s which is on for a guy his size. But speed isnt what hes about. Obviously its about his height and length. Thats what makes him a mismatch.
I mean they arent going to replace Tony G's production with just playing Toilolo. But at the same time, Tony G was arguably Matt Ryans favorite target. This year, it will be Julio Jones, then Roddy, then probably Harry Douglas, then Toilolo in the redzone area.

The Falcons needed help on the OL... and then help on the DL... and then a couple other things before a TE... to answer your question.
