Are you always experiencing internet issues?

2 months in and I'm already having to replace my modem/router.

No issues for me, 2 month in. Parents have had it for over a year, no issues.

They usually distribute used or refurbished boxes. I had to do it a couple times. Is it the WiFi or modem part that is messed up? If the WiFi, just get a separate router.

No problems in 4 years other than having to power cycle the modem about every 6 months and that guy who didn't get the utilities marked and cut the connection for my whole neighborhood.

I don't have Uverse Internet currently, but when I did it worked fine. My issue is that I was limited to 18up/1down.

Have you called them?

When I had internet through them (still have TV), I got 18/1 almost on the dot consistently.

Well, sheeeet. I had to replace two boxes and when we finally got someone to come look he told us that we had a refurbished one, most likely the one before that was as well, and that they usually hand out those. He came back the next day with a brand new one and we haven't had a problem with the modem since. Anecdotal evidence, but it may be worth it to request a new instead of refurbished modem. Or buy one (if that is an option for U-verse)

Yeah, you might have to spend a few hours on the phone (or with a tech in your house or around the block) getting everything working right but once it does you should be good. I don't remember what upload I'm supposed to get but it's always over 4.5 and my download is consistently around 27 for a 24Mb plan.

Typical. Not just for Uverse though.

Definitely have them give you a NEW router and make sure before they leave that you test and confirm the speed you're paying for.

That's unacceptable and you need to let them know. I had to deal with no internet for almost a week and they ended up giving me $21 off a month for 12 months. It sucked being without internet for that long but the $250 has helped me get over it.

I have had uverse for a few years now and for me if has been far more stable. I have the max turbo and get a steady. 25/5.

For anyone, I always suggest disable the ISP WiFi, have the router set in bridge mode and get your router. I recently had to change out my router but I think a power surge damaged something in it.

I've had no problems, been with them awhile now. And I consistently get 12mbps, which is the plan I got. AT&T is a godsend compared to Comcast

The tech has no idea if the RG is new or refurbished. The service is contingent on your lines. If you are not maintaining a speed close to your limit then the tech needs to diagnose your lines from the VRAD to your RG. Check for noise, interference or bridge taps and if you have some of these items on your pairs then it needs to be fixed. If you have TV the same rules apply for each set top box on your network. We have the test that can pinpoint the faults on the pairs and get the correct department to fix issues.
