And the one thing that bugged me was wouldn't somebody who was kid in the 1950s be older than Sean Penn who was born in 1960?

In A Beautiful Mind, Russell Crowe (age 37 at the time of release) portrayed John Nash in college at age 20 up to John Nash receiving the Nobel Prize at age 66.

Also, Morgan Freeman was only 66 when he played God in Bruce Almighty who is anywhere from 6,000 to 10 billion to infinity years old.

If this is the worst thing about the movie, ok then.

I loved the heck out of the film and it's the film that finally got me to like Terrence Malick. Completely changed my outlook on him.

Arguably the best post I've ever read on here.

Tree of Life was solid from my recollection. But that was years ago in my "Watch a lot of movies while drunk as shite" stage. I need to watch it again. But if I was drunk and it held my attention it couldn't be that bad.

ETA: frick it, I'm 6 drinks deep but I'll watch it again. Going in now.

If nothing else it's beautiful to look at.

It's starting now and it's fricking gorgeous. The way it's shot, integration of the score, narration -- damn good. That being said, I'm out until it's over.

Malick films beautiful films but they are soaked in so much pretentiousness it's hard to get passed it. I'm not a fan.
