How can you help a child make friends?

My brother is 11 and he barely has any friends. he is shy but seems nice. He likes sports, movies, video games, etc. What are some ways he can meet people? Our neighbor kids are weird, and his classmates ( he goes to a gifted school in BR) are kinda weird too. Iwasnt around for much of his childhood, but Ive tried to make up for it. Took him go karting, movie theaters, maybe blue bayou or the zoo soon.

buy him a pack of cigs, he will instantly become the cool kid on the block.

Maybe he doesn't want to make friends.

I've heard that tying a steak around his neck will make the dog play with him.

Honestly the best thing you can do is help him build confidence.

More outside activities, less video gaming. Play sports, swimming pools, etc.
Make him read, so he knows how to dialogue well. Talk to him a lot, answer his questions. Teach him how to approach people.

Does your brother play any sports? My kids hang out with their teammates from their soccer and baseball teams Way more than the kids in their class.
Sign him up for something at the YMCA if competitive sports is not his thing

If I was 11 and you were my older brother and you tried making me read. I would tell you to suck a bag of dicks

Yes. Get him involved in little league or boy scouts.
At least make them have to operate in something that's bigger than the individual and they will come around.
