Death penalty please. Family is obviously stupid as well..

quote:

He wasn’t a bad person. His father was killed by IMPD. That is enough to hurt a person and scar him for life,” said Moornan.

One of the officers listed in that 2003 police report is Officer Perry Renn.

“I imagine he figured they were going to try and kill him. I mean cause look what they did to his father,” said Moornan.

On Saturday night, the family says they were having a cookout.

“Next thing, I just heard shots and everybody running in the house and everybody hit the floor,” said Yvonne Moornan, Davis Jr.’s aunt.

By the time they got outside, they realized those shots were Davis Jr. and Officer Renn shooting at each other. Davis had an assault rifle.

“Major is not a bad person in spite of what happened. Things happen,” said Pam Moornan.

Now, the Davis family is worried about their son’s reputation and again, questioning police tactics.

“It’s horrible about what took place, but, I mean, I don’t think it’s fair though for them to keep dragging him through the mud,” said Moornan.

And again, questioning police tactics.

“I don’t know how the police was shooting. I don’t know if they took concern of any kids running around,” said Yvonne Moornan.

The family did say it is sorry for Officer Renn’s family, but they said the tragedy may have been avoided if Officer Renn would’ve stayed at his car since he could see Davis had a gun.

Unfortunately some people are so delusional there isn't much that can be done. You can't reason with people that ignorant. You can't help them. As ron white says "you can't fix stupid."

Should we really be surprised that people are saying that the police brought this upon themselves?

His dad dying of a heart attack while in custody 10 years ago is enough to scar him for life and make him hate the cops forever, but his dad being a career criminal is just par for the course and had no effect on him. Is that what they want us to believe?

I would say no. I'm actually more surprised we don't see more of this, given the awful, yet accurate public perception of the police in America today.

Not that I agree with it, but I understand where it comes from.

I don't think it's fair to say every cop sucks. I've dealt with cops that suck and I've dealt with cops who were actually pretty cool. They're just people and they have different personalities just like people. It pisses me off when cops try to get their rocks off basically bullying people, but this guy was clearly murdered and the family being in denial is almost laughable.

I see she has watched wayyyyy too much tv. Car doors do not stop bullets and neither does glass. So in all actuality, you are a much easier target to shoot at sitting in a car.

I'm not saying they all suck. I am saying that on the whole, the police community in the USA has a poor public perception, and it is because of their military tactics and repeated profiling in certain communities.

I've said it before, the police are patsies - low level enforcers in Americas obsession with low level crime.

See I dont mind the militarized police as much as most people. I feel they should be used more sparingly and have a tighter leash so to speak, but im not comfortable with criminals having the police outgunned.

I don't think anyone has issue with police having the means to carry out objectives when necessary. People have issues with regular police playing army tactical warrior on American streets to flood jails with more head count.

This is what has driven this awful perception of the police.
