Happened on my old street. Just moved from there 6 months ago. Sad... There were a lot of kids in that age range on that street. Prayers for the victim and the family.

The victim's family and friends have my thoughts and prayers.
RIP to an innocent child.

Prayers to all involved.
Ashamed as I am to admit this, I think I should share a recent story to advise any other parents.
I was at a friends pool the other day with my 3 year old. Her float vest was bothering her so I had let her take it off since she only had her feet in the water sitting on the edge, ontop of the steps. 8 of us were all siting around in a circle, 1/2 of the people facing the pool and within 2 feet of her. No one was drinking.
She fell in and not a single person heard her fall in or actually saw her fall. I happen to look over and saw her under water in desperation and jumped in. She was only about 2 inches from the top so she must have just fallen in and was ok, but still.... It can happen so fast and I will never forget that look she had on her face. All parents, please be careful around the pool and require your kids to wear their floaties the entire time. I do not know how I could live with myself if she had been in any longer with all of us just feet away. I was an idiot and will never make a mistake like that again.

My son is 3 and we put him in survival swimming lessons the past two years for this reason. He's never worn swimmies and knows how to swim to the side on his back and try to climb out. Whether it will relate in a true emergency, I don't know, but I hope so.

I can't even imagine what that family is going through and my prayers are with them. I know sometimes this goes overlooked but please pray for the first responders that work these types of calls. I know the guys that responded last night and it definitely affects them. Tragic situation.

CreepDanial, did you have the GrauxGirl nudes? Are was they even new for you?

I absolutely agree with u! A very similar thing happened with my 3 yo niece and thank goodness my SIL looked that way.
They call it silent, and it truly is just that---poor baby.

Why would you ask that in a thread like this?

No idea what you're talking about. So I guess I didn't get them.
Back on topic, having a 4yr old and a 1yr old, this is one of my worst fears also...
jsquardjj, just 3 weeks ago I had the same thing happen to me with my 1 yr old, AT HIS BIRTHDAY PARTY, no less. I was sitting in the kiddie end of the neighborhood pool which is only 2ft deep. My wife and a few friends were sitting on the edge and I was holding our 1yr old while he was standing in the water right next to me. I let him go just so he could move around some but I still had my arms in kind of a "halo" around him so I could catch him if he fell. My wife mentioned something about someone on the other end of the pool and we all turned to look. While we were all looking away, my son must have stumbled and fell straight down. When I turned my head back around, he was sitting Indian style on the bottom. Our heads were turned for 2 seconds, Max! And he fell straight down because I didn't even feel him touch my hands which were surrounding him. We pulled him out and he cried and coughed a bit but was OK, thank God.
But it just goes to prove how it can happen in an instant. Scared the ever loving shite out of us with how fast it happened.

CD, how is your weight loss going?
Posted on 7/5/14 at 10:43 pm to jsquardjj
Yep. A five or six year old just drowned out here. Parents and other adults were in this pool with him the whole time. No one noticed.

I have a cousin-in-law who lives out by you who is a Deputy on St. Tammany's Search & Rescue unit. Before that he was a Beach Patrol Deputy in the Daytona Beach, Fla area. He's told me some stories and I just couldn't imagine going through that, much less having to deal with these kinds of tragedies on almost a daily basis.
Takes someone with great intestinal fortitude for that job.
