We have our routine calls at the fire department...people who fall, shortness of breath, chest pain, etc. We might sometimes finish our last bite of dinner, run and take a piss, grab a snack out of the fridge, etc. before getting on the truck and heading to the call, BUT, if you hear anything with a child in danger you will get run over by guys flying out the door and you WILL get left if you don't immediately get on the truck. It's a different ball game with kids, they are innocent and helpless. Also most of the guys on the department are fathers so when they see the kids in need they think about their own children.

Such a sad situation, couldn't imagine losing a loved one that young.
