Has Klinnsmann ever taken personal responsibility for a loss?

It seems like any time we lose, we get a big picture answer like "American soccer needs change their culture in (insert phrase here) facet. It's fairly common for coaches in sports to take responsibility for fudging the gameplan or the lineup, but I can't seem to recall Jurgen ever owning responibility for a poor performance.

Any of you guys know of an instance?

Well, he is consistent. He never taken personal credit for the wins either.

This is the key. If you aren't an arrogant prick when you win, I don't mind if you avoid blame for losses. Besides, he's right with his complaints. We don't have the talent yet.

A lot of managers don't blame themselves for a loss - soccer is a players game.

He hasn't really lost a competitive match we should have expected to win so I guess that helps too. I'd like to see what he had to say about losing to Jamaica and Guatemala in WCQ.

being he isn't on the field playing, how in the world would he be responsible for a loss? same goes for a win, he didn't play in the game, he didn't win the game. His team wins or losses, not him personally.

That's more of an American thing. Jurgen's not American.

It's never been Jose Mourinho's fault his team lost, that's for sure. He just needs more money, so he can buy better players.

What would be the point? Would it make you feel better if he publicly apologized and accepted all blame?

He got us out of the toughest group in the World Cup and was eliminated by a team with much better players. He did fine.

Bingo, once that whistle blows is up to the players. This isn't football where the coach tells you where to go. Now formations and player selection is up to the coach. But let's be real. We are very limited in our options compared to Germany and Belgium.

The only losses I can think about that would negate this are the away losses to Honduras and Costa Rica in qualifying.

Neither were surprising losses. Getting our shite pushed in at both was the disappointing part. We weren't really competitive in either game.

And I'll disagree with this point:

We lost to Jamaica for the first time EVER in WC qualifying.
