see that much CGI in a trailer, and I automatically lose interest. Didn't see the first one either.

Honestly, the trailers look retarded good. I can't wait for this. I'm generally more a fan of less action, more character, but the first one shocked the hell out of me. I expected it to be awful. I fully expect this one to finish around like 85% fresh, which means it will be really strong.

The CG doesn't bother me because you have to accept the genre. I guess we could go back to 1960s style. You know. If that's your thing.

I think it's gonna be all out war, but with some solid character development building upon what has happened. To me, that's good. The first one scratched the surface of what we could get.

I'm not sure if you are joking or not, but that's how I feel. I know it's fricking retarded, but knowing that we lose bothers the shite out of me, and is a reason I'll wait to watch on BR when I can follow it up with ID4, Battleship and Battle LA.

Then you're an idiot. When has CGI use dictated how good a movie is?

It looks awesome. I am a huge fan of the original movies. Even the awesomely bad ones. I have the box set.

I really liked the new version. The previews for this one look even better.

I saw it last night. Very good. If you remotely liked the first one, I'd go see it.

I'm so excited for this movie, but I read an article saying that it has a strong gun control message.

that would make me a sad panda

I rewatched the Rise this morning. Man. Franco was more wooden than I remembered. That was probably the worst part of the film. Kinda glad he's out for the new one. His ol' lady was a looker though

Wow, surprising.

First one sucked. I made it to the end, but it was about as mediocre as it gets.

I'll have to check this one out with that kind of score though.

Yep. Better avoid this one.

LINK

It's that Weinsteen fella!

quote:

Last January we reported on uber-lib movie producer and Obama supporter Harvey Weinstein bragging he would produce a film attacking the Second Amendment and targeting the National Rifle Association. Weinstein told Howard Stern the NRA would “wish they weren’t alive after I’m done with them.”

When you monkey with gun laws, only monkeys will have guns.

quote:

“Dawn of the Planet of the Apes” is a direct attack on the very foundation of the Second Amendment. The film portrays apes acquiring firearms for the purpose of revolution – with disastrous consequence. The Second Amendment and the guarantee of the English Bill of Rights of 1689 that proceed it ensured the right to bear arms in defense against the state.

Planet of the Apes? More like Planet of the Sheep you gunless Commies.

quote:

The anti-Second Amendment – indeed, the anti-natural rights – Hollywood elite will continue their screed against the Second Amendment. Obama’s admonishment – to de-glorify the use of firearms – will be used to brainwash an already largely brainwashed populace on the evil of the right to bear arms.

A movie about monkeys is political?

ETA: I'm seeing Avatar 2.0.

Is it REALLY a gun control message? Or is it more a message of "Look, this is what happens when you give firearms to creatures that have no idea how to responsibly use them" message?

Spoilers, but here's a clip from the climax of the film:
