Matthew McConaughey - biggest turnaround story ever?

Has anyone else gone from an actor people believed was being shoved down their throats by Hollywood to an 'A' lister and a consistent performer? To me it's not that he turned it around but how gradually and systematically he did it.

Never disliked the guy as an actor.

I always thought he was decent enough actor but he's taken his acting to a whole new level recently.

Go look at his career on IMDB. He really hasn't made that many chick flicks and even when he did make some, he was also in plenty of great action flicks.

Have seen a few & thought he was great in those roles but all they required was him being the good looking nice guy. I pulled off that role well 30 years ago.

He had some great performances in some of those action movies and comedies, though. In Broken Arrow and Face Off he played an awesome villain. In Get Shorty he was also great.
