I'm looking for a place in Baton Rouge where I can swim laps about twice a week that won't require me to sign up for a membership and pay an incredible monthly membership fee. Does anyone know of a really cheap gym with a pool or a place that charges per use? I'm also open to other suggestions (other than using an apt complex pool...). Thanks!

Not really many options in br unfortunately and none that I am aware of that are free. I use to swim at the lsu rec but have yet to find any place besides there with a decent lap pool

Lol.
Pennington y has a nice indoor pool. One person is about 50 a month. But you can use all the other ys.

Otherwise, go find a lake.

The YMCA in 70805 just off Hollywood st.

The pool almost never has anyone in it for some reason.

Yeah, so far the Pennington Y is the best option I've come across.

Resistance Swimming- where you swim against the current and cut your swim time in half.

I have swam laps there for years. Indoors I think it stays at 82. Perfect. Just need to dodge the water buffalo class times..they use 2 extra lanes so sometimes I have to wait longer.

It doesn't exist! I tried to find a place for my granddaughter to practice and it doesn't exist.

Not sure if it still has it, but the old Don's Health Club (YMCA next to Bowie Outfitters, I think it is a YMCA), had a nice three or four lane lap pool inside.

Its been 25 years since I have been in there.

Yeah, could always just get a summer pass to Blue Bayou and crank out some laps in the wave pool deep end.

Try crawfish aquatics. Nan is great. You can swim a few times for free just to check it out.
