We went vacationing in Destin at the end of May. Some new toll-by-plate system took a picture of my license plate and they've sent me a bill. It's not much, just $5.50 ($1.50 for each pass and a $2.50 administration fee). Apparently the admin fee can be avoided if you create a pre-paid account

They correctly have the dates listed that I both entered Destin and when I left.

Here's the thing, though. Both on the way in and the way out we physically stopped at a toll booth and paid a human being $3.00 cash.

I just asked the 3 other drivers if they received anything in the mail and they have not.

So, what the hell is going on here? Are there now 2 different tolls on the way in and out of Destin from I-10 or did they not record that I gave them cash at the toll booth?

Pay? Don't pay? Call the number on the paperwork and ask them WTF?

There isn't anything specific about the location where they're tolling me, it just says "Florida's Turnpike is transitioning to all-electronic tolling, which allows customers to pay tolls without slowing down or stopping as there are no traditional tollbooths."

When I Google'd Florida's Turnpike I got something from the Miami area.

Pay. Your time is worth more than $5.50 and you can save the headache.

You paid a person to cross the mid bay bridge. There is a separate toll to use the new mid bay bridge connector. There is no person to collect the connector till.

Pay the bill. You owe it.

That's really what I was wondering. Thanks. But why am I the only one out of 4 cars that got anything?

I'd call the number first. My video of me running a red light in NO that was clearly a green light led me to an interesting phone call with Sam in India. Still cost $125.00 but how many times would I ever get to talk to a guy named Sam? In India?

Same shite happened to me and my dad on the ccc when they were doing tolls. He sent a check along with a strongly worded letter, and they sent his check back with an apology.

Not sure about that. I have a toll tag so I have no experience with getting the bill in the mail and if their collection process is accurate.

Did you take 331 down to 20? I don't know of another toll road around the Destin area. Next time you go, take 331 south from I-10 and take it straight down to 98 and just take 98 into Destin.

As for them sending a bill, I would simply call them and tell them about it. Most toll roads are privately owned and I'm not sure they could do shite to you if you told them to screw off.

Incorrect. The only times I passed actually toll booths, I went to the cash lanes and paid to go through.
