I recently watched the first two Kill Bills and am interested in going back to see some of the movies that influenced Quentin Tarantino.

What are some good ones? Ideally any that are on Netflix streaming would be great.

Well the classics are

Sweet Sweetback's Badassssss Song
Dolemite
Shaft (original)

They're all wonderful and ridiculous.

My personal favorite is Watermelon Man. Quite different from the rest, a bit more serious I would say. Not so much about action and violence and revenge. But still loads of fun. The premise is simple yet genius, and executed well.

"Black Dynamite" is a great recent version. Be sure to watch "Undercover Brother" just for the awesomeness.

Enter the Dragon, classic Bruce Lee.

You can sync up the final mirror house scene with Look Up by Santana from the 1972 album Caravanserai.

Helps if you take LSD.

A great parody of the blaxploitation genre is:

Fly Guy!!!

And if the OP wants Kung Fu, he need look no further than Kung Fu Joe.

Superfly is damn good. Amazing soundtrack.
It ain't on Netflix streaming. But they suggested One Down Two to Go with Jim Brown and Fred Williamson, which probably is worth a watch. And something called The Black Godfather.

Car Wash was pretty decent. Great soundtrack and a few laughs.
And I liked The Harder They Come. If you like reggae, check it out.

This one is not well known, but it is awesome.

John Daniels plays Jonathan Knight, the owner of "Mr. Jonathan's", the most successful hair salon for women on the Sunset Strip. His reputation as a lover has become so awesome that he is sought after almost as much in that capacity as he is for his experience as a hair stylist. Everything is cool for Jonathan until he messes with the mob in an effort to protect his young attractive receptionist, played by Tanya Boyd (Celeste in Days of our Lives), from her former boss. Action explodes when the "loving" machine becomes the "killing" machine. Jonathan, chainsaw in hand, gets down to the get down on the vicious mob gang that wrecked his shop and kidnapped his woman.

The original blaxploitation film:

Sweet Sweetback's Baadasssss Song

It's really pretty terrible. Hardly watchable.

Nope. Sweet Sweetback was released in April of 1971. Shaft was released in June of 1971.

This movie is pretty damn ridiculously awesome. It's great that they actually got real crips.

If you are looking for something that is just so bad that it's good check out:

The Guy with Secret Kung Fu (1980)

The choreography is actually pretty damn good, but that's about the only thing.

The Last Dragon is something of a mix of what you're looking for. It's a lot of fun to watch too.
