Did anyone catch the TV ratings from yesterdays game? It seems the ratings for the other games came out the next day.

I haven't heard anything, but would think it scored a solid rating.

Most watched soccer game on cable ever. Still tallying numbers from Univision.

It seems like some conflicting reports.

Some are saying 2nd highest soccer match on cable.

I just saw this report.
LINK

quote:

Reuters is reporting that more than 22 million Americans watched the United States’ 2-1 loss to Belgium in the Round of 16 of the 2014 World Cup on Tuesday.

That number is three million more than the 19 million Americans that tuned in to watch the Boston Red Sox win the World Series last October and four million more than the 18 million who watched the Spurs clinch the NBA title over the Miami Heat in Game 5 last June.

Given that Nielsen TV ratings only measure U.S. households and thousands upon thousands of people jammed bars, restaurants and sports stadiums to view the contest, total viewership number is well beyond the 22 million mark.

Which is all to say the one thing that’s been preached in nearly ever soccer article you’ve read today: Soccer in America is a big deal.

I'd say the trend is our friend!!

Imagine the numbers if the game wasn't played at 3 on a work day.

On ABC in prime time. Makes the numbers even more impressive for the World Cup.

Yeah and I don't think I personally know a single person who watched this match at home and not at a bar or some other shindig.

Good point. You would think a minority of viewers watched at home yesterday.

I watched at home. Personally, I prefer to watch USA WC matches at home, but the other games at a bar. However, I would consider watching our games at the bar if the AO bar in Montgomery was bigger. It's a small place and was crowded.

Or if everyone watched at home.

I'd say a very large portion of people watching were watching on a few particular screens across the country. KC, Chicago, the hundreds of bars with soccer parties, etc.

I understand. I'm the same way for big AS Roma matches if I can't be there. NO frickING AROUND!

My point was since yesterday was a work day, many people probably rushed out of the office to watch at the nearest place. bar/restaurant

Been watching all the US games here at Dan McGuinness in Nashville. They closed off their parking lot and put up a big LED screen out there. I heard around 2k showed up for the Ghana game. For the first half of that game I watched from the sidewalk but when people started to move around during the half I was able to get in and buy a beer.

Steve Lepore @stevelepore

20 U.S. markets set ratings records, including Norfolk, KC, Philly, Raleigh, Greensboro, Tampa, Greenville, Pittsburgh, New Orleans (1/2)

ETA: Grantland has posted an article mapping viewership trends across the country. New Orleans outranked a lot of surprising places...

I'm not sure how productive the majority of the US work force was at 3PM.

New Orleans put up an 8.7? Impressive for a market with no MLS team. We outdid good MLS markets in Seattle and Salt Lake City. How did San Antonio do so poorly with all those Latinos?

I agree, it is very impressive for NOLA to get that rating. Maybe one day we will get a USLPro team.
