Wife and I are headed there for a 4 day weekend. Suggestions on restaurants? Things to do?
I know we will be headed to New Braunsfels for a day on the river as well.
TIA

Esquire Tavern is a good spot to grab a nice cocktail on the riverwalk. Cool old bar.

Back in '06, wife and I ate at the restaurant on top the needle. Awesome fried quail appetizer and good NY Strip.

We went this spring, honestly, spend a day on the RW then pack your bags and take the short drive to Austin. That's what we did, after 2 days, woke up the third day & really couldn't think of any reason to go back, made our way to Austin & had a blast the remaining 2.5 days.

If you have never been, take the river tour. You can do a lot of walking around the downtown area that isn't by the river walk. The Alamo is close, about an easy 5-10 min walk.
The Esquire Tavern was cool, Saltgrass steakhouse wasn't bad. Durty Nelly's Irish Pub had a Piano guy playing mid afternoon, which wasn't a bad way to drink a few beers. Check out the Howl at the Moon they have there for late night bar scene, dueling pianos. Casa Rio is the mexican place with the colorful table umbrellas, it was pretty good.
I would just check out the bar at the Tower of Americas, no need to eat there.
I am sure there are probably less touristy places to go and check out, but we were lazy while there and didn't venture out much more than Seaworld. Hope this can at least help for the time you are at the RiverWalk.
+1 on going to Austin. That would have been a great idea if we had planned ahead.
Also, between west Houston and the Bucees, it seemed like there was absolutely NO PLACE to stop. We were running on 0 miles to empty for 30 miles or so, trying to get to Bucees. Just something to keep in mind.

The wife and her friend chose SA...probably for some nefarious purpose like shopping all day. I'm personally most looking forward to New Braunsfels and hopefully Canyon Lake for a day.
I don't think its possible to get her to Austin this time, i just want to make sure I at least get to eat good food this trip
Thanks for the suggestions to all

I've been to SA twice this year and have researched many threads from this board. There are some good ones. Just google "San Antonio restaurants tigerdroppings"

Paesano's is a must.
Shrimp Paesano for the appetizer and the beef tenderloin for the main course.

There are tons of great dining spots in SA without needing to drive to Austin. You should venture away from the River Walk after the first day though. On the river walk try ascenar @ hotel Valencia.
Near downtown = Rosairos in the King William District. Or, little Red Barn, or what was the Liberty Bar.
Drive up Hwy 281 to the old Pearl Brewery. Tons going on there. Or go out to The Rim (I10 & 1604) Cover 3 and plenty of other places.
Also on 1604 & Hwy 281 area is Stone Werks & Salsalita Cantina near Bandera. lots of other cool places.
