It followed a report in Germany which claimed a Singaporean match-fixer had accurately predicted the scoreline before Cameroon's 4-0 thrashing by Croatia in Group A on June 18.

The report said the match-fixer had also predicted that a Cameroon player would be sent off in the first half.

Alex Song was dismissed during the opening 45 minutes for a foul on Mario Mandzukic.

After the fun of the Ghana ca$h debacle, would this be beyond belief?

If this turned out to be true, this would be the biggest scandal the sport has ever seen.

Proenca was the ref. I would be very surprised to see someone with his name recognition involved in match-fixing, and usually these Singaporean syndicates seem to start by paying off a ref. Perhaps they just paid off the players instead.

Would probably be much, much cheaper to pay off the referee given the bets placed

That match had 0 impact on the World Cup.

But as the MiB say.. Congrats to the writers of this World Cup for making it great.

Proven match-fixing at FIFA's largest event? It would be unprecedented.

If you watched the game, the red card would make sense because it was way too obvious and out of nowhere.

The score line though, I don't see how that could have been fixed.

But it was an entirely justified red card, meaning Alex Song is likely working with match-fixers. Alex Song has made millions of dollars.

The whole thing is confusing.

That's what I'm saying, that i could see that being fixed.

The score line, no.

What he is saying is that Song likely needs the money less than anyone else on the team.

Ah.

Still, it is more likely than the score line.

I thought the West Germany/Austria game in the 80s was fixed and thats why the last games of the group stage are played simultaneously now?

Well it was, but it was to put both teams through, not a team throwing a match for gambling. This is a much bigger deal IMO if true.
