What is the best way to negotiate a lower monthly bill with Uverse?

Bill just jumped $70 because some promotional BS ended. Threaten to disconnect? Ask for a cheaper bill? Any advice from people who have successfully lowered your bill? I have tried getting back to the original billing price, but they keep giving the run around.

Yep. Call to cancel. Tell them it's cheaper to go with x company.

the only thing I have seen work is to keep jumping between providers...every time the promotional rate expires, you have to move...
I don't really have the patience for that shite, so I pick a package that will work for me after the promotional rate expires and go with that...

I had a chat with someone from customer service online earlier and told them Xfinity was significantly cheaper. They said they would lower the bill by $40 for 3 months and throw in HBO for free for 3 months. They the proceeded to say this is the best they can do and to call the customer service number tomorrow.

that is the game...now, you have to deal with the same shite again in three months and by that time, you will be addicted to the HBO...

I didn't except that deal. They made a note in our account that they offered that, but I'm going to try and get it lower by calling someone tomorrow. Looking like DirectTV is pretty cheap, might have to check them out.

Our bill with Uverse was too high so I called to say I'd like to change our service to save some money. They told me if I agreed to stay with Uverse for a year, they would cut my bill by $32 a month and they'd upgrade our plan to U400. Took the deal.

We have DirectTV and are considering moving to Uverse. DTV increases our rates so often we have almost no idea what our bill will be from one month to the next.

can you cancel service, then just restart? they are running some bundle deals that would give me the same setup at about $40 cheaper a month.

I've got U-verse, $156/mo. for TV, net, and land line, not quite sure why I keep the land line, but I've done that a couple of times with success, now they're balking, I would switch but the SEC network creates a dilemma

This is true, and it's what we've done for the last 6 years or so. We had Uverse, then Direct, then Dish, then Direct, and are about to switch back to Uverse because of pricing and the SEC Network.
Like you said, it's tiring having to deal with negotiations, promotions, equipment returns and marathon installations, but it does save money. This time around, I'd like to stick with the Uverse bundle and just keep renegotiating every 12 months.

One of the bad things about Direct is that they lure you in with the first year promotions - the first year is awesome when you're paying $65 for 300 channels and free NFL Sunday Ticket, but it blows in the second year when it balloons to close to $90 and no Sunday Ticket.

I had time warner and had to renegotiate every year when it went up, but it was still creeping up and they wouldn't negotiate any more, so I dumped them for u-verse. Then they wanted to negotiate, but too late. U-verse gave me more channels, plus a couple of movie channels, plus four dvr boxes and lowered my bill $25 to $128.00 per month. They'll keep it at that for one year and then if there are any specials, they'll lower it or keep it the same if not.

Just increased us to $120 with no movie channels. Also, no SEC channel on Direct TV? That right there will make us switch.

I just called TWC, told them exactly what I want and what I don't need, got rid of some stuff I don't use and saved $30/month

Right now I am paying $98 with dish for 2-HD DVRs and one standard. I just got quoted 2-HD DVRs and a HD for outside with direct tv for $51 for twelve months then $71 for the next twelve months. Their DVRs are vastly superior to what I have now.
