I used to work for DISH Network and I know there is a specific package that they offer the elderly that has the basic channels and a few others (I believe you can add an HBO package to this, as well).

This is what I plan to do to cut down the bill. All I want is an HBO Go account and sports; I never watch TV and everything I could want is on my Roku 3.

I believe the package is $10-20/mo. I'll ask specifically for that when I buy my house.

didn't AT&T buy them? according to Slive, you're good with Direct TV

AT&T bought them, but it's had no effect on programming or cable licensing deals at all, and won't for the foreseeable future.

I won't get SECN as a Direct customer just as a Uverse customer won't get Sunday Ticket this season. Mergers aren't quick-turn.

Here's how you lower your bill: Get a cheaper package. One with less channels.

Asked for the package with the fewest channels and it was still $20 more than our original bill...

I recall watching Slive being interviewed during the SEC baseball tournament, and he was hawking the SEC network and AT&T, pretty sure he said that Direct TV would have it, could be wrong

I have had to do this the past two yrs w uverse... I threaten to cancel if they don't offer a bundle close to my previous agreement. The trick is to keep up the guard until they transfer you to the NEXT person. The first person you talk to will give you the run around and say that's the best they can do.. Continue to say that you will cancel and they will eventually transfer you to someone who will be easier to work w/ and both times I was able to lower my bill back or better to what I was paying. They do lock you in for a yr and when it ends you will have to do the same shite

I only have U-Verse internet and pay $44 for 24 Mbps speed. I just call every year and tell them I like my speed and price. I tell them if they won't agree to another year at the same rate I will find other options. I'm coming up on my year end around August.

I call every year and tell them I want my bill lowered. If it's not to where I want I tll them to come disconnect it all. Suddenly they can get it even lower.

You are a damn poor if you are that worried over $70. You signed up for the service. I guaran damn tee you you were made aware that you would start out under their promotional pricing and then move into their normal price. You are pathetic, pay the bill you signed up for.

You're an idiot if you pay more than necessary when you can get a better deal.

DirectTV is pretty cheap

Great product backed up by terrible and I mean horrendous customer service.

I switched to Dish. Couldn't be more satisfied.
