Can Asik, AD, and Ryan work together at the end of games?

Who does Ryan guard? Would we have our best shooter on the bench when the games is on the line? We added Asik so AD wouldn't have to guard 5's. I mean with the addition of Asik, Ryan has got to be gone, right?

Anderson has to be gone. Lebron will only hold out so long for us to clear enough cap space.

Seriously though....I want to see those three play together.

AD could cover SF's now that you have Asik by the goal, but it's less than ideal.

Ryno at SF won't work. Eventually he's going to be moved if we are set on someone like Asik as our C.

And have him camped 20+ feet away from the rim? He's the best shot blocker in the league.

Doesn't make the statement untrue

no...Asik or Ryno can finish games depending on situation

We need our best players on the court come crunch time. I'm convinced that Ryno will get traded. He's the odd man out.

This is probably correct, depending on matchups. Maybe Monty can sub in Anderson on offensive possessions and sub Asik in on defensive possessions....who am I kidding, Monty would never do that

The SF might also be the guy with ball in his hands at the end of games.

Asik's career-high in MPG is 30, so I think it will work out fine.

Anderson can't play SF clearly.

Go with Asik if we can't concede points, and Anderson if we need to make up points in a hurry

Depends on the team. If the opponent play small ball, Anderson and Davis. If the opponent plays big, Davis and asik. Just like how Spurs did with Boris Diaw(Heats) and tiago splitter(OKC). Only way I can see us playing all 3 is with teams like Detroit and Memphis.

The "finishing five" SHOULD depend on the situation. However who knows what the hell Month will do. Just because Asik is on the team doesn't make Ryan the odd man out, I believe the Pelicans are a much better team with those three in the rotation. If we move Ryan and do not add a significant 3 the deal is a push at best.

I don't think they'd move Ryno without getting back a starter level SF.

ETA: Gerald Green, Harrison Barnes, etc...

You have to remember that he's not as valuable as he was before the injury last season. He's coming off of an injury, and we don't know how he'll recover.

Also, I wasn't referring to a straight up trade for those guys, but they are some possible pieces that the Pels could expect in a trade.

Yeah he is.. but signing Asik gives us the freedom to put AD all over the place. He doesnt have to be a rim protector anymore. That is Asiks best quality IMO.

But to answer the OP, I hope we can find a way to play those 3 together. Holiday will be the PG out there, and it will either be Tyreke / Gordon / FA SF, depending on what happens in free agency. We could just put Anderson on the other teams worst offensive player... could go that route. But if its a fast and quick guard it wouldnt work.

Holiday is an elite perimeter defender and can guard a 1 or 2, depending on who we are playing. So that opens things up. And AD can guard 3-5 IMO. Even if that means taking him away from the rim, we still have Asik who is 1 of the best defensive bigs in the league. Might not have the blocks like AD, but hes really sound defensively and can adjust a lot of shots.

And it really matters who we play and how we matchup. It would work against certain teams, and wouldnt work against others. All depends on who we are playing and how we matchup.

Asik is the odd man out at the end unless we need a stop on the last possession imo. If you are protecting a lead or coming from behind, you need the shooter regardless.

But that puts AD on a 5, which Monty has tried to avoid.
