Transformers: Age of Extinction Discussion Thread (***SPOILERS***)

To steal a line from Jeremy Jahns, this movie had the depth of a Michael Bay movie to go along with the length of a Kevin Costner movie.
Good lord was this a long arse film. I seriously never thought it was going to end. 2 1/2 hours of mindless explosions involving people and robots we really couldn't give two shits about.
It's also really a testament to how bad this movie is that, even with all of the explosions, I found myself getting bored and checking my watch about halfway through the film's second act.
I keep waiting for the day Michael Bay actually replicates the formula he pulled off in The Rock. Looks like I'll have to keep waiting a little longer.

How is Grimlock construed? How intelligent? I ain't going to see that shite, but I'm curious. Is he literate? Can he speak? Are there the other Dinobots, i.e., Slag, Snarl, Sludge, what have you? Honestly I give no fricks about spoilers because I won't see it.

This was the first one that I didn't see at a early showing
I'll catch it Saturday though in all of its 3D glory

I was wondering this as well. I'll see it, but likely not in theaters.

you tag your thread spoilers, yet you post none

Who is the villain in this?

I thought I heard Grimlock talk maybe at the end, but I'm not sure. If he did, it wasn't much at all.
The Dino Bots were the coolest part of the film.
As the guy said earlier, I thought I had been in the movie 3 plus hours.
Spoilers:
I was kind of annoyed how the human innovated transformers could transform. It was stupid. They turned into blocks and could fly and then transform into another form in a totally different place.

Now he was cool looking, but his story wasn't at the fore front. He did a little fighting, but they set it up for him to be in the next one.
But that's the point I'm trying to make.
It's like Bay was trying to take the story in two different directions at the same time.
And the next movie could either be about Galvatron or it has to be about Optimus finding the creators.
IMO, Bay needs to just decide which way he wants to take the franchise because you could make two totally different movies for the next film. He just doesn't need to try and do both at the same time.

Sorry I didn't include spoilers in my initial post. I didn't get in until about 1:30 in the morning my time and just wanted to jot down some initial thoughts before I actually went in depth.
The human villain element in this movie was the thing that made the least sense to me. It's never really explained why Kelsey Grammer's character hates the Autobots so much. His partner in crime mentions he had a sister die in Chicago at the beginning of the movie, but those were the Decepticons who attacked Chicago, not the Autobots. The Autobots *saved* Chicago and the entire world. At least there was an underlying motivation for Patrick Dempsey's character in Dark Side of the Moon.
Also...I really loved Stanley Tucci in the movie even though they have set him up to be the John Tuturro of this trilogy, assuming of course he comes back for another movie or two. His constant humor, screaming, and bickering in the film's final act really takes you out of the action. One thing Michael Bay has never learned is he has never learned that you can have too much of a good thing. Just give us one or two well-placed jokes to relieve the tension. You don't need to have your character cracking one-liners every single time he's on screen. Just saying.

Strafe? Scorn? The frick are those? Those aren't even the Dinobots I grew up with. God I hate Michael Bay.

Strafe, a Dinobot who specializes in assault infantry and transforms into a mechanical two-headed and two-tailed Pteranodon.[25][28]
Slug, the savage destroyer amongst the Dinobots who transforms into a mechanical spiked and bestial Triceratops.[25][28]
Scorn, the Dinobots' demolition specialist who transforms into a mechanical three-sailed Spinosaurus.[25][28]

Didn't think it was a terrible movie, but I agree that the nonstop action got a little boring after a while.
