Kinda saddens me that Toyota has the Tacoma on a 10 year update schedule(or so it seems). The first Tacoma came out in 95. This current generation debuted in 2005 and has only had minor face lifts since.

I just bought a 2014 SR5 4x4. I absolutely love it!

Why you think it's so imp't to make changes? It was voted the best compact pickup.

Good looking truck.

Not sure why people want the drivetrain changed so badly. It's bulletproof.

Everyone wants the Hilux D4D, but it's not EPA compliant. Toyota should at least upgrade the VVTI to the Dual VVTI that's in the current 4runners.

been debating on getting a Tacoma for a good while now. Is the advertised gas mileage for the '14 legit? (21 mpg comb)

Love mine too. Just took it out west to get it in some dust.

Oh lawd no. Pure highway I don't get 15. I probably averaged less than 14 over a few thousand miles. But I have manual 4x with bigger tires and a roof sail.

Well...that's not tough when your only other competition in the segment is the Nissan Frontier - an equally old platform.

Why has Ford never revamped the Ranger to compete with the Tacoma? Why not offer a mini-F150 with a 6 cyl?

They do, they sell it in Europe. They don't want it to compete with their 1/2 tons. They make more money on them. Profit margin is higher.

A stock 4x4 double cab V6 will get 19-20 mixed driving if you are easy on the skinny pedal.

I get 18-19 with 32" trail grapplers. My wife, on the other hand, gets 15-16 when she drives it

Yep, it's basically the same truck as the Baja.

TRD off-road package plus

Eibach Coils (1.8-2 inches of lift)
Bilsteins (remote res in the rear)
Hood scoop
BFG ATs with faux lock wheels
TRD cat back exhaust
Different grill

My truck has basically the same suspension setup for way less money.

I have a '14 Prerunner and I also get about 17/18 mix. On cruise control from SF to LA I got around 20.
